Just finished my top 25 list. So many games I wanted to put on it, so I had to keep trimming down until I got to 25.

Ketsui definitely on top, which is a very honest vote, even with the KDF thing. It really is a shame more poeple haven't had the chance to play it.

Maybe those of us with pcb's should have a 'Ketsui Day' to let shmuppers come by, play some credits on it and experience its fantasticness?

thank you for the vote from drboom :D

futari is very good, no denying. aesthetically and stylistically, i prefer ketsui though. i know a few people who prefer military type settings over stuff like ... the neverending story, or whatever

i'd vote for ketsui but i don't think i'm qualified to vote.

i've read on here that the futari scoring system is similar to ketsui, and i understand how ketsui works but still can't get my head round futari, i think it's the meter, i can't look at other things while playing :?

I agree that its good asthetically and stylistically, but the scoring system never grabbed me as much as it did in other games, namely Mushihimesama and certainly Ketsui.

I just recently got back into Dodonpachi and found that if I try and work a few smaller chains, but don't expect to chain the whole thing, it becomes much more fun. The game really came alive for me. It's how I play Dai Ou Jou, so that makes sense.

what didnt you like in futari drboom...you say you didnt like the scoring system?

which modes were you playing?

im just curious because most people who play it feel the scoring system is what makes the game....its not as polished as older cave titles(mushi is way prettier), but the scoring systems make up for it

sorry for the OT.....

Mostly Maniac. It was the reliance on building up your counter, then cashing in that didn't click with me. You had to keep an eye on the counter, or at least extract a large number of points to feel like you did anything good. It just missed on a visceral level for me.

That's not to say that I don't think its a good game, in fact, at another time, I might have clicked with it and it could move quite a ways up my list, but with the experience and enjoyment I had from owning it, it was above average, just not truely great.

i totally see what you are saying....it could be quite frustrating playing maniac cuz if you mis-time stuff your score is ruined....

but it is so gratifying when you get a HUGE cancel and grab 30mill in one shot 8)

They won't. Sakari said in an interview that he thinks extra features (X mode and new characters) are more important in a port than accuracy with the arcade version, and people who really care about that accuracy should just play in the arcade or buy the PCBs.

Guess I'll have to wait for it on MAME.
I hope the plonker doesn't equate godawful load times and bugs with arcade inaccuracy... that's just shoddy as fuck workmanship. =/

Even though it is obvious as to why, it is bizzare that Ketsui isn`t in a top 25 best shoot `em-ups ever chart. It would be a bit like Star Wars `77 not being in a top 25 best sci-fi flims chart becuase it was only released in Japan, in the cinema and on cinema film reel.

Why does everyone believe the tale about the supposed Jap PS2 version of Ketsui? I have it on good authority that it is all just made up bollox to wind people up for a laugh. Japanese people can lie and/or have a laugh at you too you know! There was no magazine preview, no screenshots, no showing at a show or event, nothing and you still believe it!

Once all the kiddies get their hands on the 360 port they'll admit to its greatness.

No. 1 next year boys. ;)

Sure, if it just happens to be a perfect port and the only thing it removes is the graphical limitations/bomb glitches presented in the PCB version.

I still have it preordered like a moron though. Don't get your hopes up too high on 5pb's work.

Agree it should be in the top 25, but the analogy is overly complicated.
Star wars is universally known and is synonimous with sci-fi films, Ketsui as good as it is doesn't have the same exposure.

It's more akin to Pan's Labyrinth : it's foreign, it's aclaimed by fans of film, it's a masterpiece, but i suspect it won't make too many peoples top 25 lists (though for me personally it should)

This one though was posted on mihara's blog (he might be having a laugh after securing the rights to publish the game of course :/) so would seem a strange wind up/lie/joke though not impossible. I really am more inclined to think that the port (especially if they were going the emu route) simply wasn't going too well. I'm not sure what there would be to gain about lying about progress on a game such as Ketsui on ps2, thought they may well have exaggerated where they were in terms of progress.

Also, hundreds of games suddenly appear without any prior warning , event, or showing so i really wouldn't use that as an indicator of some big conspiracy.

answer to previously deleted comment below : don't worry, i don't ;)
