Death Smiles: Countdown to North America Invasion
Although I would have loved the Xbox 360 port of Deathsmiles to be region-free, it would have sure hurt knowing that I just bought a Japanese Xbox 360 console only a couple of months ago.

Too true. Especially with the Raiden Fighters ports coming stateside as well. Not that I don't want as many people as possible to play the game, but that would be a swift $300 kick in the balls for sure.corbie wrote:Although I would have loved the Xbox 360 port of Deathsmiles to be region-free, it would have sure hurt knowing that I just bought a Japanese Xbox 360 console only a couple of months ago.

Regardless- even if DS was region free- there's still plenty on J 360 that I enjoy - not to mention any upcoming stuff- that more than justified the purchase to me
Regardless, I would be completely fine if DS was region free, or any J game for that matter. It simply means when my J-360 dies, i would have one less reason to rebuy it. Unfortunately there have not been a lot of J-games that interest me, but it's likely just that M$ never got the right support for unique Japanese titles.
I can argue that when I bought my Japanese dreamcast, (nearly a year before the US launch), and import carts for the saturn i got a lot more value out of the investment.
Since I have never played DS, I hope that it is the fresh experience I have been waiting for. I have purposely limited the time i watch videos of the game so that it is still "new" when I get to play.
I know this has been mentioned a few times in the thread, but is the MBL content going to be available day one or released one month after. I think I have seen it stated both ways.
I realize that I used the word "I" far too many times in this post.

There is a set of gamer pictures on the japanese marketplace now for 150 points. Also under the game description on the xbox live page it says it has online co-op. Is this true or a misprint?

The trailer and gameplay vid are also there too, which are worth getting if you want to see the game in high def.
I bought the gamerpics immediately. They're pretty good. Thanks to my friend's ability to mess with Xbox.com's gamerpics, it's now possible for us to see if any gamerpics get released before they're on the marketplace. This has happened for a few games, actually, as they upload them to Xbox.com a few days before releasing them publicly.

Personally, I'm fond of 3, 4 and 8.

hahaha just what I did when I was small and played along to the Track and Field machine in the public swimming baths.
As for the rest: can anyone explain to me what those icons are good for? You don't honestly wanna tell me that people pay money for a couple of tiny pics...

You'd be surprised. You really can't complain though when you buy some shit and you're left with 230 pts.ChurchOfSolipsism wrote:kemical wrote:cool i can run the gameplay vid and play-along with the controls, just like in the arcades when i didnt have a quarter

Thanks for the page link. I don't know Japanese so finding the correct search terms is problematic.

People always link Yahoo.jp but most of the time you can't even bid/buy the stuff if you live in the US without finding a 3rd party.

Lol- same here. I preordered pretty much the 1st week of it being available. I want to ask wtf 'on hold' means- but I have a feeling with PA I'll find out before they'd respond.SuperPang wrote:Hmm, me too. You'd think preordering 6 months early would secure one!gunm wrote:Hm, PA put my LE order on hold. I wish I knew if that meant they are allocating one for me or not.
I use Rinkya. You end up paying a bit for their handling fees, but if you REALLY want something, and you don't mind paying..bucklemyshoe wrote:People always link Yahoo.jp but most of the time you can't even bid/buy the stuff if you live in the US without finding a 3rd party.

A couple items in my collection never appear on Ebay.. ever.
No one is dumb enough to make a page's worth of whinging white noise out of the Death Smiles thread. Haha, the very thought.ChurchOfSolipsism wrote:You think so? Nah, I don't think anybody would be that greedy... besides, no one is dumb enough to pay money for an avatar. Anyway, saw the gameplay trailer on the JP marketplace and downloaded it. It looks very impressive, and I can't wait to get the game. Haven't been this excited in a horizontal shmup in.. well, I've basically had no interest in any horizontal shooting game period. So, make this my first. Play-Asia's currently preparing my order and should be shipped within 2 days.
