Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

Hmm, looks like a lot of CVS2; they ought to start playing the game for real to revitalize the dying CVS2 scene. Good taste on that Magic Sword. No ST though?

No we had ST on the other cab.... we had WAY more games than cabs. had to rotate and take requests ect. But ST was in for most of one day.

I was there (picture of me), along with a bunch of other Team (and non-Team) SDA guys. Galuda 2 was a highlight of the whole week for me, and practically worth the trip alone, but everything else was awesome too. I even came to like Mushi. Just a little bit!

...but not Bakraid. Also, Mars Matrix makes my head hurt. :(

Seriously, huge thanks to whoever brought PCB's. You're a hero.

Where did this take place and why wasn't it in the shmupmeets section? I live in North Carolina .... :( And if I recall correctly, you do too Strider

Let me know when the next one is scheduled ... Not that there's a very good chance I would be able to go (busy schedule, wife & kids, etc), but I'd at least like to know about it in advance so I could at least pretend like I could go. :D
If more 2D people would go to the 2D Gaming Forum, there would be more people to talk about 2D games with other 2D fans on the tootie gaming forum. It's 2Dlicious. For real yall

I remember seeing you actually..... Tony had the cabs for the most part, Dan had a few cabs and alot of the older beat em ups and Raizing stuff, I had most the cave stuff with random action titles along with other random shooters ect.

BTW that capcom game is magic sword.

It took place up in DC. We are gonna have this stuff at animazement this year in Raliegh, NC also.

I just want to thank you for bringing the PCBs over. spineshark and I are the two guys you snapped a pic of playing 2p Galuda 2. The shmups were honestly the best part of magfest for me, and you rock for bringing them all!

Good shit guys, we appec the compliments. We are doing something like this again at Animazement, as has been mentioned. You do have to put up with a bunch of anime crap, but the game room will be hype.

Bonus for Wedoca is that Mike donated us a new candy at the con:

I guess I should have but last year for Animazement the thread got zero attention.... this one did to till I posted pics. I know the trick this time.

Seriously though, Animazement is much bigger volume wise, the arcade/game room will be as good as the set up we had here. If you are looking to play on the cabs and PCBs then we'll have the same if not more.

If you have Mushi 2 and want to come PLEASE do.... I want to play it badly.
ive been to shmup meets around the world but the dude in this pic is by far the shadiest character ive ever seen
I saw and communicated with far worse while there.... lol I don't even remember that dude. Some cool folks though.

Don't hate on my Bakraid.

I also brought some cabs and boards. Hopefully I'll be there again next year with candy and raizing boards in tow. I hope some raizing fanboys will represent. I had Batrider, Bakraid, and Dimahoo rotating all weekend; it was bliss.
I'll be at Animazement also, so any raizing fans should be sure to make it if you can.

Oh, and whoever I talked to about Batrider, I don't remember your name but you rule.

It's just not very interesting (really slow and easy-seeming) if you don't know how to score. Which I don't.

I wanted to play some Dimahoo though, guess I missed that one. :P And I really wanted some Brave Blade.

i would've loved to have gone, even more so now that i know i would've had a chance to hang out with some shooter fans and gotten to play some espgaluda 2 or many of the other games listed on an actual arcade cabinet.
i think the main attraction for me would've been the concerts though, and getting a chance to meet some of my favorite vg arrangement/remix artists who attended. btw, did you guys catch any of the concerts? wish i could have been there to see metroid metal, smash brothers, armcannon, and tss all live

Hah, I thought the same for a second, but really, that´s just the trenchcoat. Nerds in trenchcoats (especially these black shiny plastic looking ones) always look a bit like they are about to play out another Columbine any minute.

Super long post but I didn't know about this thread earlier, yeah.

I have to thank you guys so much because Magfest would have been much worse otherwise. 8) You guys + NES challenges guy + the one "museum" dealer who actually had anything of note saved Magfest for me and made it great instead of terrible.

Disappointed Battle Circuit and Sengoku 3 weren't available, and I tried to find Dan to get him to put Brave Blade in, but it was more than offset by playing Osman for the first time. A fucking awesome game and way better than Strider 2, how did I not know of it before!

The thing I noticed was that Ikaruga was by far the most popular it seemed, even among people who didn't know what it was, so it must be the graphics. From what I saw it was nonstop complete noobs walking up to it and feeding it and not even understanding polarity. Of course, I'm a hypocrite since I fed a Cave game, doh.

I'm surprised that so many people tried out all the shmup cabs. There were people on constantly. I guess even if you don't know what you're doing at all, and if you're dying nonstop, you can still have fun if you're a non shmupper by staring at the pretty bullets. In the console room, there was literally one PS3, and it was hooked up the entire time to Thunder Force 6 (which was indeed way easy like they say). And every time I walked by the PS3, there was never a single person playing it. For some reason they had Secret of Mana on right next to it, and even that got more play.

Thanks also for the fighters of course, playing Alpha and especially Vampire Savior on cabs was really awesome, even though I wasn't used to playing on sticks ironically and have much more difficulty with some of the motions (dragon punch). Same for Magical Drop 3, although I did better later when playing on pad on the big projector. PS: I took down all comers in fucking Money Puzzle Exchanger, what a great game. ;) I know there were some other awesome arcade games I played too. Dan is my fucking hero.

I tried to scoreplay Batrider, but it went disasterously. Here are some reasons that I probably should have realized:

1) not used to stick at all (biggest factor)
2) high starting rank from all the people playing continuously (not just harder patterns, but ones I'm not used to)
3) difficult to hear the sound and I need audio cues like how long to milk
4) not home environment, loud + people watching you is weird
5) no autofire hack for fun Carpet milking (I tried to do the manual autofire but got a slower firing speed I think, rofl)

I guess I'll have to score at home. I think the guy behind me was puzzled at why I was getting upset and continuously restarting instead of credit feeding like everyone else.

BTW, stanski (another SDA guy) is the guy sitting down in the 6th pic. Apparently he beat the first stage of Mushi on Ultra and all these random dudes watching behind him were just losing it, lol.

Udderdude: A lot more girls were there than I would have figured, actually.

Tony: Hmm, Raleigh is a lot closer to me than DC, but I avoid anime people like the plague (even at Magfest), so I dunno.

Dan: Sorry, you just got bumped off the Batrider board, you're like 31st. I'm not 100% positive you're referring to me, but I did talk to you about Batrider so maybe it is me.

e_tank: I only caught a couple minutes of one concert (dunno which one), and I wasn't really interested so that was it. Don't let that deter you though, given that I didn't go to any panels (besides SDA lol, and I would have skipped that but I was presenting) or any concerts, I couldn't have been a representative attendee.

DEL: lol, that would have been something. I think you're joking but Mid Atlantic = middle north/south-wise of Atlantic coast = Washington DC. Actually they retconned and now it stands for Music and Gaming Festival, I guess because they don't want to limit themselves geographically. :P

Woah, holy crap, I had no idea Animazement had such a nice arcade scene.

I'm actually going this year, working at the con in guest services. I'll be sure to stop by the arcade. Needs me some shmuppin' at the con!

Oh, and I look forward to being able to play Canon Dancer in a cab. That'll make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. :D
