fair enough. google translated it as "at least 90%" but i know google translations aren't always accurate. maybe like 85% or so

over both loops, plus hibachi, he might be right; i can't say. but the first loop (which is about enough for most of us anyway) it's very tight. in terms of gamespeed (and therefore chaining - the most crucial aspect), i can notice a slight difference in the honeycombs of stage 5

hopefully a full translation will appear on insomnia in the near future

デススマイルズ(通常版) 特典 フルボイスDLCカード付き by ケイブ (Video Game - 2009) (Xbox 360)

So.. it comes with a free voice card? What, the game doesn't come with voices normally?

Haha. Probably won't be mine, but you never know.

Elixir: Yeah, I have no clue what a Full Voice Card is. I just got my 360 like 2 days ago and I've only been playing Jet Set Radio on it.

After we posted our DSLE shortage notice a few days ago, a few Japanese vendors contacted us and offered to sell some of their allocation of Death Smiles LE to NCS... since there's such a manmade shortage. Their kindness comes with a price however but we'll make a final purchasing decision in the next few days.
Due to the new development, we may be able to fill more preorders than originally expected but please wait for further updates. Take note however that we will probably not purchase the additional quantities if the vendors' offer prices are significantly above the regular retail price.

Holy shit 16k yen for an LE, they can't be serious. The LE doesn't even include an art book or original soundtrack for christ's sake.

I just pre-ordered mine along with Ketsui at Play-Asia.

I'm in no rush to get it seeing how I need to decide on whether or not I should get a JP 360 or mod my 360?

well, considering that there still isn't a way to mod your 360 to play imports, i think your choice is obvious  .

I'm sort of balancing the problem between pain of modding or pain of importing another console.

Doesn't it also get you banned from Live if you take the modded unit online?

technically you CAN do a hardware mod to change the region of your box, but that's not very common. This does not let your system play all regions, just changes it from one to the other. You have to buy a chip, then program the chip with the new region code.

Most ppl who "mod" 360's do a firmware update to the DVD driver to play backups. This however will not allow for import play. Doing this correctly you won't get banned on xbox live.

easiest way to play j-360 games is on a J-360.

You can try to get your hands on a developer XBox 360. This is the only region free 360 console.
I saw one for sale just a few days ago, asking price was 1200 Euros.

In theory couldn't you make a back up of a region 2 game and it would play no problem on a modded console? It's my understanding that region coding has to be stamped onto the disc itself and because of this, back up copies have none.

Dropped by Messe Sanno today to pick something up. Asked about the DS LE. He said they were guaranteed X amount. They already reserved 80 at the event last week (which had the promo video) and said they'll have some more (20?) on release day. Cave will have God knows how many, and there are plenty going for 8900 yen or so on Yahoo Japan w/ no bids. So, I wouldn't be too worried if you're not afraid of a proxy service, but if you want to use Play Asia or NCSX, you might be fucked.

I'm sure there are programs to patch the game. This may not work on all games but there has to be said program out there.

In regard to region modding a 360 i just sent an email to the best modder in the scene. I will post an update. I believe it can be done but its a pain in the ass. Also i think it also depends on the kernal version of the console to even work. Im not sure but im gonna find out. I want to play DS and dont want to buy a second 360.

I've already been down the "should I mod my 360" road before. I know the JP 360 consoles pretty well. Short answer: Import.

It's possible to change the code of your 360 to NTSC-J, permanently, but the method is overly complicated and voids your warranty. If your console dies, and the chances of it dying are still fairly high, you won't be able to get it repaired at all. There's also the issue of importing a console which has an equally high failure rate, but I think it's worthwhile in the long run.

That price sounds more like a test kit, which won't run retail discs. I actually put DDP:DOJBXIUTIGY into mine to test.

A true 360 dev kit would run you considerably more, not to mention be fairly impossible to get hold of. Most of them are owned by publishers, and MS keeps a very tight leash on them. If you tried to sell one you'd likely find yourself in trouble with the law in a hurry. Just get a japanese system. It's worth it.

If you patch the region-encoding of the game or alter the disc image or executable in any way then the digital signature on the executable becomes invalid (oops)

In short: what Jockel said.

Is there any evidence for this? By all accounts, the problem of boards overheating has been eliminated by the new Jasper models (which run considerably cooler than previous models).

I see. I guess it's a matter of time then. I would have thought there would be a solution out there. I haven't been paying much attention to the ps3/360 modding scene.
