If I had the money to fund it, I'd have anime studio Madhouse animate an hour-long OVA for Ikaruga. It would focus on the character development of Shinra and Kagari, perhaps hint at some kind of romantic interest but never delve into the subject (think "Princess Mononoke", in terms of sexual tension), have cel-shaded CG dogfights (ala Appleseed 2004), Hitoshi Sakimoto returning to compose the soundtrack... It could be something epic, as long as it's presented in a way that it won't alienate newcomers nor insult the intelligence of the fans.
And it would suck.

"cel shaded dogfights" are going to become real popular around here.

Also, Jason Robards and Mick Jagger.

This sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.

I can't believe that Fumito Ueda allowed this, if he even did.

Should of been a shitty arthouse movie in the first place.

I seriously doubt he has any say over what happens to the IP.

lots of money thrown in the toilet; sony could have given the cash to Ueda instead. Of course, if you add Stringer and Hirai's brain cells you still have less intelligence than a paramecium.

btw, Sakimoto did not compose for Ikaruga.

You cannot stop a bad movie with Paramecium alone.

Sakimoto didn't do the soundtrack to Ikaruga.

Anyway, this is going to fail as a film, as the entire reason why SotC was so good was because it worked so perfectly as a game. It drew on a great deal of videogame making practice, told it's story almost entirely through player interaction and consequently stands, in my my opinion anyway as an almost flawless game. Silent Hill was somewhat similar in its storytelling (single protagonist under constant player control, lonely wondering, and gradually questioning the nature of the bosses you fight in relation to the plot line) and look how shit that film turned out.

Someone needs to turn GOD HAND into a movie or mid western martial arts series at least, that would rock. Can't do much with a silent protagonist. Has there ever been a better game to screen transition than mortal kombat?

God Hand into a movie would be great as long as they keep it close to the spirit of the game and don't try to Americanize it and rape it in the ass. But then, they always do that.
"Sooo, what was it that you consider a 'good salary' for a man to make?"
"They should at least make 100K to have a good life"

Yeah, no RS movie or Wander please.

I'm curious to see how Bioshock translates to movie as , well, the whole game is a) a retread of SS b) the whole message/stuff that happens can only be executed from within a game.

Although there was one aborted low budget attempt and although we have a couple of indie productions on youtube, i'm surprised that Half Life hasn't been the one game pulled out for a film conversion. That said, throw a few striders in, replace the UK police/army with combine and jiggle things around a bit and you could almost have Children of Men (which gave me that city 17 sort of feel)
