Hello I'm new to these forums!

Post by Danny »

Hello my name is Danny Bell and I'm a huge Shump fan and I am really new to these forums. (as if you could'nt tell!)

Anyway err... Just to break the ice what shumps are you guys currently playing?

Although I have loads of shumps on all manner of video gaming systems and on MAME and it would be impossable to play them all at the same time was playing 1942, Warblade (shareware title), Warning Forever, Area 2028 and a little known doujin soft game called AIR RADE and it's add on AIR RADE SUMMER. But these have been over taken by some new purchases that I made this weekend. Gradius 3, 4 & 5.

As I said I have a load of differnt shumps, but if any of you guys want to sugest any to me then please feel free although if you mention any sort of freeware shump then I proberbly already have it! :D

here is a link to the offical AIR RADE site, you can download a demo of the game there. (mind you it's in japanese so you may need to use google's translation tool or something)

Heh, AIRRADE and it's addon pack AIRRADE Summer are two games I have quite a fondness for, mainly for the fun gameplay, and it's ties with the AIR PC game.

If you liked them, try out the demo of AIRRADE AIR, the third and final in the series. It's totally revamped graphically, control-wise it's sharper than the previous two, and with a few new attacks for the player to use. The scoring system is pretty good fun to learn. My best on the demo stage is around 37mil, although I've seen a replay of a Japanese player getting 200mil o_O

Hopefully AIRRADE AIR is coming out soon, as well as Siesta Arrange Mushihimesama PLUS...

Oh, and welcome ;)

Welcome! Always nice to have another member on board. I'm a big fan of doujin games too... Air Rade & Summer are two of my faves as well. I'm looking forward to the full version of Air Rade AIR, whenever it comes out ... who knows though.

Thanks for the replys guys, I thought I was the only person who like Air Rade games over here in the west heh.

Well on a non-shump releated game, any of you guys tried a game called [dMp]Drill Milky Punch? The reason I mention this is because all the talk of Air Rade reminded me of the time I brought Air Rade (with summer) with dMp and they are all really good games. It's get's very shump like later on when thusands of enemies fill the screen and there are hundreds of fire spitting potted plants and aliens to deal with it's like the twitch gaming you get from playing shumps, very fun indeed!

anyway I did a review of the dMp and I'l proberbly do a review of Air Rade (w/ Summer) soon.

Welcome to this board, Danny

This is a good community, nice people which are not so "boss-like".
Hope you enjoy it here.

My favorite Shmups:
Gradius V, Giga Wing, R-Type 1 & Delta, DoDonPachi, Sexy Parodius and some others...

And make sure to check out the highscore section. ;)

Welcome.

Got a couple of tips for you. Keep your innocent eyes away of threads that go along the lines of "why XXXX type of game is better than XXXX type" or "XXXX system better than XXXX system." You get my drift. The real bad thing about this forum is extremist elistism.

Well both!

Although I don't own any arcade boards myself yet but I do live near a sea side town and sea side towns in the UK are reknowned for there arcades, an the one I live near is no differnt so I play Cyvern Plus there (the owner of the arcade refuses to sale it because it's his favourate game, plus he knows that me and my friends love that game so much that we always pump the coins in lol.) but I have to make do with the plain old Cyvern on MAME.

I will be looking to get a supergun or phantom 1 converter to play arcade boards on soon, could someone point me out to which one is the best/easiest to use for begginers? I know a place around were I live that sales Phantom 1 sticks that were converted from DC sticks, they are cheap and I'v been told it would do the job just fine, what do you guys think?

Anyway if I could own any shump arcade board it would have to be Boogie Wings/The Ragtime Show, man I love that game but it's so rare so I will proberbly try to hunt down Cyvern with Cyvern plus instead. (But I herd that's also hard to find to... bummer!)

EDIT: eeewww spelling! lol

I've got the "Cyvern - The Dragon Weapons" Motherboard & cart, and you are indeed right about it's greatness. You are also right about the rareness of the Cyvern Plus board. Having played both versions can you tell me the differences between the regular Cyvern and the Plus edition?
Oh and welcome aboard! :)

Well the game has a blue title screen as well some differnt level arrangments and bullet paterns there are new "true" forms of bosses, all of which as you can proberbly tell are much harder then their "untrue" selfs but you can now se the bosses health bar to which is nice. You can also modfy you dragon as well but I'm guessing you knew that already! ;)

There is also multiple endings, although they are all in japanese I'm guessing to unlock them you have to defeat the "true" bosses, also there might be differnt endings for 1cc'ing the game although that might be hard considering this game has a second loop which is psycotic to be honest with you! :)

Oh don't worry.... I won't lol. No seriously I'm not fantastic at shumps, this is mainly due to me working loads now and also my other love, 2d fighting games so you won't be seeing any elitism from me lol.

To be honest though I generaly don't get involed in those threds, most shumps have redeming quilties about them and all that matters to me is "how fun is this game?".
