Super Mario Allstars
Earthbound (it costs $55.00 just to rebuy the freakin' cartridge!)
Super Metroid
Super Mario World
Axelay
Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
Rock n Roll Racing

Now I got to buy all that shit again just to enjoy old school goodness. My parents SOLD my childhood!!! ARGGGGHHHH!!!!

I don't think I can ever forgive them for this.....

This sucks......

Yea, that sucks that they sold it without you knowing about it.
Other than that, most of those games can be bought for 5 dollars on Ebay(Dude, not sure if you'll be able to replace Super Mario World though...its RARE!!).
I could understand if you owned like a hundred games or something, but this shouldn't set you back more than $100.00 to replace eveything.

With my father also being a games enthusiast I have never experienced such problems. But I feel sorry for you, losing a great system like that.

Hhmm.. That sucks! :(
I know how that feels.

I remember back in 1992, my mom sold my Hong Kong Region-Free SEGA Mega Drive because I flunked at some exams.
Along with these games:

Gaiares (J)
Galaxy Force II (J)
Gynoug (J)
Sonic 1 (J)
Sonic 2 (E)
Space Harrier II (J)
Strider (U)
Thunder Force III (J)

But in 1997 I re-bought a Euro PAL MEGA Drive with a Region-Free Cartridge (Not as cool as my old Hong Kong MD though :( )
I even managed to track down all the above games & in even better conditions that the ones previously sold. Brand new!

So don't worry...
Out of the games you lost, these should be harder to find:

Axelay
Earthbound
Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
Rock n Roll Racing

The rest you shouldn't have much trouble tracking them down.

As for your SNES, try to find a new console if possible. I hate getting other people’s used stuff.

Even though I’m having trouble finding these for my SNES my self….
Super Mario Allstars
Super Metroid
Super Mario World
Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

Geez, where do you people live where it's hard to find a SNES and Super Mario World? Super Nintendos are a dime a dozen. Okay, Earthbound and Super Metroid aren't going to be free to replace, but other than that it shouldn't be a big deal.

Hey FatCobra, I have like, 3 spare SNES units. Want one? I have a nice clean one you can have for free, has a small nick on one corner, and the controllers aren't in the best cosmetic shape, but it's not yellowed or anything and works fine. I cleaned and refurbed it myself, garage sale special IIRC. You want? PM me with your shipping info and I'll send it the next time I hit the post office.

Last week I was at a flea market, spotted a clean copy of Super Metroid for $5. I briefly considered telling the dude it was way underpriced, then I saw some of his insane prices on other stuff (e.g. $100 for a boot-stomped PS2 frontloader, $40 for a similarly abused DC) and figured he probably screwed other people enough that he could stand a good screwing himself. I hope some unsuspecting customer came by later and got a good deal.

Super Mario World isn't rare...I was only being sarcastic.
I was trying to say that most of his games could be replaced for almost next to nothing.

Consoles aren't that expensive either.

One more point of advice...Try tracking down the person who bought the unit, and try (really try) to buy iy back for what it was sold for.
You're parenst might still have the money from the sale, so there's your start.

Maybe someone will "cave in"?

Seriously here folks...SNES's can be found quite cheap...if not FREE.
Axelay......$10.00 15.00
Mario All Stars 5 BUXS (why would you still want SMW?)
The others?
Metriod should break yer bank either.

Pheh....
I had it far worse.

I once had a Commodore 64 Diskete system with Cart-slot with about 30-40 games (including individual compilations). a decent amount of shmups and platformers lurked within.

Because I was focusing a lot on my brand-new computer, and Genesis. He sold off the entire lot to a BLIND GUY.

SNES games are easy to find.
Try finding non-cassetee versions of Last Ninja 2, Space Pirate, Forbidden Forest, and various Karate games.

Also, Earthbound is $20 used around these parts. Pops into the wild every few months.
currently collecting a crapload of coasters, carts, controllers, and consoles

Axelay and LttP aren't hard to find at all. Link to the Past is easy to find in both the GBA and SNES incarnations and fairly cheap. Axelay sells for cheap too. Rock 'n Roll racing isn't the cheapest game (20-25 dollars loose), but it's not hard to find either. Earthbound is actually very common, but sells for more than it's worth on ebay (avoid the auctions that sell it for over 100 dollars).

Doubt it, otherwise he'd try to sell me back my Earthbound cart.

Plus, I remember mine having that nasty nicotine-stain yellow tan on the top. Who'd knew consoles could get a tan?

EDIT: Although he did refurbish it, so maybe it did have that stain on it. But my unit also had my name on it as well (I loved marking my toys and consoles with a Sharpie as mine when I was a kid).

When my mate was away for training with the army his younger brother traded his SNES with his entire game collection for weed & hash! ;)

The fun part was when he returned, we managed together to track it down & persuade them to give it back. We finally retrieved it as well as most of the games, minus the 2nd joypad, DC adapter, RF cable, Mortal Kombat, SFII & DKC...
Believe me it was one hell of a quest! ;)

It’s now safely stacked away in my closet waiting for his return. But seeing as he travels often with the army, it won’t be any time soon.

What is with parents selling nostalgic items like this??? It's a phenomenon I truly don't understand as I my parents would never sell any of my video games or systems, period. Sure they might sell a random kiddie book or toy, but otherwise they never sell or get rid of anything before asking me or my sibs first if it's something we wanna keep.

This could be a case of the parents not really knowing their children very well. I only say this because my parents sound a lot like yours, Dylan - they'd never sell something they saw me spend so much time with as a kid. They know how much time/money went into my game collection, because they paid attention to me while I was growing up.

Of course, nowadays my Dad plays games - he's only figured out sports games, and FPS, but that's a decent start, anyway! Plus he kicks my ass at deathmatch. Sorry, got OT there a bit!

What did you expect? They thought you were an adult already and wouldn't need a shit ass old console they bought for you when you were a kid. Can't blame them, can you?

My parents did throw away stuff I would love to have today, for same reasons. How would they know the kid in my would miss them? It's logic.

My mom gave away all of my Atari hardware when I moved out...130XE, 400, 1050 disk drive, printer, monitor and all of my games and other software, plus manuals and boxes. It all went to this neighbor kid, a friend of my brother's, who promptly destroyed everything. 12 years later, and I have yet to replace that 130XE.

I give consoles to friends all the time, whatever I find cheap at garage sales...NES, SNES, PSX, DC, etc. Consoles should be free anyway, a means to an end. Maybe I should start some sort of console rescue...take donated old systems, fix em up and give them to people in need.

Actually, I have a friend who LOVES Earthbound (while I personally can't stand it), so had I bought your system I probably would've sent the cart to him, and since you say your SNES case was yellowed (and...Sharpied ), I would've gutted the system and pitched the case in the trash.

Sharpie ink will come off (sometimes incompletely) with 70% isopropyl, but there's no way to get rid of the yellowing on a SNES. The other two leftover SNESes I have in my closet are both heavily yellowed (AKA spare parts). Of course, my own personal SNES is pristine 8)

Hey, I was a dumb kid, and my parents thought it was a good idea if I put my name on all my stuff so that in case I lose it.

I like that adopt-a-console idea though.

Couldn't you just spray-over the yellow tan with white paint?

Hey Cobra, in case you were waiting to use the Revolution's classic game download service you now have added incentive to buy your SNES back. Cuz that fun guy Satoru Iwata just said he wants to make me people pay for old games any way he can figure out.

I know, even if the Revolution's download service was free, I'd rather have the actual hardware and game carts.

What's so Revolutionary about downloading and playing old games anyway? We already have that, it's called emulation. Nintendo's just making it legal just for their console.

Well, I suppose heh, but a yellowed SNES is worth like $5, spraypainting it would only add to the cost and wouldn't increase the value any (unless it was some snazzy airbrush job or something). So, if it's yellowed, I use it for parts, like replacing the cart connector in a certain non-yellowed unit.

What a sad story Fat Cobra... Here's some Snes goodness to soothe your sadness. Courtesy of my room.

With some willpower, it will take you little time to grow up a nice Snes collection again!

That's a very sweet collection. I have a good amount of games, but most of them are cart only. The fact that most of the boxes are in great condition is especially impressive.
