the seizure doesnt make sense in this situation....i dont see the connection.....unless the owner leaked the film.....unlikely.....is there any links confirming the connection....seems un-related
more likely leaked by the studio for the publicity and increased profits upon release

who do they think is president, bush? eric holder is going to ream someone's ass.
I wouldn't count on it. As much as I think Obama is a huge improvement over Bush generally, the Democratic Party has been firmly on the wrong side of copyright issues for at least a decade. This was most recently evidenced by John Conyers' introduction of the "Fair Copyright In Research Works Act" which would forbid the government from requiring free access to taxpayer-funded research (apparently to override the NIH, which recently instituted such a policy).

I don't think they give a rat's ass about filesharing rights either. I just think they respect the law as written, which probably doesn't allow for it. But searching without a warrant isn't either.

According to the first link, they did have a search/seizure warrant. I think they were using "unwarranted" in the informal sense of "unjustified".

But obviously it would have grossed even more without the leak.
If this was a movie that I wanted to watch, i'd go cinema anyway. As it stands, it most definitely isn't a movie i'd like to watch and therefore I won't download it either.
I know in America its mostly a family thing, but in the UK I feel its more an enthusiasts thing. Only enthusiasts and the non torrented pay to watch movies these days.
I've got 120+ blu rays at home and twice this week i've been told I wasted my money. You can't even buy movies and enjoy them anymore, you get slandered more for buying them than pirating them.
This industry has become 2 dimensional as it transcended into a 3D world.
Although I don't own even 1 pirated movie and nicely buy all my stuff, I sometimes feel like it is throwing away money.
All you mostly get is a bare disc and a flyer in a neat preprinted box.
No nice extras whatsoever for most of my DVD's.
That said dl-ing a movie without ever paying a dime (either in cinema or otherwise) for it is imho just wrong.
Lots of people worked hard on these things and some payment is due to them.
Myself and Super laydock are contributors to the movie industry. We alone stand up tall and declare to the torrentors all around the globe, that Wolverine just would not have been possible had we not given our hard earned cash to 20th Century Fox.
As I said, enthusiasts buy movies. But then again I understand a movie isn't worth £15 of my money. I do understand that in some cases, buying the Steelbook limited edition allows you to watch the movie and make money on top. My Canadian Ironman is now fetching upwards of $70USD and climbing. Won't be long before the Batman TDK starts climbing beyond that.
They don't care about your rights. They consider that when you 'purchase' a movie from them, that you are 'licensing' the movie from them on that form of the media.
The older you get, the less the movie industry cares about you. All they care to push is the crap touted at kids and the under 25 crowd and what's popular. Anything after that and it's all niche for the most part. If it just happens to be coincidental that it fits into more than one age category, so be it, just more money for them. They want people with disposable income and short attention spans. Same goes for radio and the majority of TV media. It's all just pointed at buy, buy, buy. If you aren't buying, you aren't being a good consumer. That's all they care about. They don't care about anyone actually enjoying what they watch. As goes by their media campaigns as well.
I don't know about any of you, but I have a huge movie collection, and I buy what I like. I put my money where my mouth is. I haven't been to a movie since the end of last year, and if it were not for Terminator Salvation coming out, it would likely be until after the middle of the year before I go to watch anything else. It's just not worth the money to go watch the shit they are releasing these days, even as a $1 rental, and yet they continually point blame at downloads. I guess I don't fall into their equation with my mouth wide open telling them that they suck. I haven't downloaded a new movie in months, and what for? So I can fall asleep, or be bored to tears with horrible acting, with extra wear and tear on my systems, just so I can delete it afterward? And for the rare occasion I might actually like the movie; guess what, they just got a future sale if they play their cards right, which yields them more profit than a theater ticket would. But the problem with all of this, not everyone is honest as I am, and I realize this, but I honestly don't care, as I have been accused for years about the issue, because they care to throw everyone in a giant pot.
They wanna point fingers at me for something I'm not doing, and they still wanna point fingers at me for what I am doing right that they claim no one is doing, so they can go stick their fingers up their ass, and smell the roses they will eventually be bringing themselves.
Point is, they just don't care to listen to anyone other than their numbers, and if they are low, they just wanna point blame at downloading, which is going to happen regardless, and possibly even more if everyone is saying it sucks, people will download it to see how much it does suck; the internet works that way. It's a reverse mechanism all the way downhill. Kinda funny the companies that get props these days are the same ones not blaming downloads for their problems, or causing other issues for the retail buyers with copy protections and other such nonsense, which is a whole other issue (cough cough, Spore, cough).
As for the poster about the Blu-Ray Iron Man: special editions, steelcases, etc. Nothing new. That one just happens to be from FutureShop out of Canada. Some stuff goes up in price, others don't. Just don't forget to get off on the bus at the right time and sell yours, otherwise it won't be worth anything later on. Also, another issue all within yourself, but are you going to want to get rid of yours, just to buy another one later, if you even can for cheaper? If yours is open, don't fool yourself into thinking you can get that, not to mention look at how many others are up? Next to none. I saw like 2 sellers. People are not buying them up like hot cakes. Just because 1 sold at that stupid price, does not mean it's worth that much. The rest are all DVD steelcases, BIN at $30. Not trying to be rude, but these are things you definitely have to look at to avoid disappointment. None the less, I wish you as much money as some idiot is willing to pay in your venture. eBay is a shifty eyed game in that matter of affairs.
