Best stick for dreamcast and pc.

Hey up, I'm basically retarded and I'm looking for a stick that I can use for my legendary Dreamcast and the PC for MAME.

I've heard custom are good cause you can go between the two with an adapter or something like that, but I don't have the foggiest idea how to do it.

Any info on the subject would be lapped up.

Howdy, I see how many posts you have :)

I have no idea about USB to Dreamcast (or serial to Dreamcast too, I guess, but you're not using a PC that old for MAME!), but there are indeed some well-regarded USB 2.0 joysticks out there.

Basically anything from Hori should do pretty well out of the box; with a little modification you can bring them up to your own specification. Unfortunately, they're generally pretty dang expensive, $100 and up easily.

On these joysticks, you usually can swap out the buttons and the actual joystick very easily. Apparently there's two brands - Sanwa and Seimitsu - and one's generally considered better for fighters and the other for shooting games. I think it's the Seimitsu for shooters, but I could be wrong.

Of course, you don't have to mod the buttons or the joystick, but it will help make it feel tighter.

I'd also like to mention that I've never been really completely comfortable with the old-fashioned joysticks. I've spent too much time on PlayStation Dual Shock type pads and the PC keyboard. However I should be getting some more time in with a good pad after a SNES pad arrives.

- Buy an Agetec Dreamcast stick. If you look around you can find one for about $50. Try Shoryuken.com forums, lots of people sell them over there.

- Get one of these:

You could get a ps2 stick and adapter for both dc and usb. I've had a pretty good experience with mine, the only problem has been the vmu slot on the dc adapter has issues.

HRAP2SA + Innovation/EMS DC converter + Pelican/InPin PS3 converter. Not exactly cheap but among the most comprehensive Sanwa setups you can get. For about the same price, you can replace the HRAP2SA with a used Sigma 8000TB with PS2 cable for an equivalent Seimitsu setup.
