Cave PCBs: instant restart
Cave PCBs: instant restart
Are there any Cave PCBs that feature an instant restart option?
If so, how is this done. Do you need to hold the start button for some time or anything like that?

Geist is right about that. ^_~
Checked out fellow shmupper, The Sheep's, World of Arcades site about anything remotely related to instant restart feature but couldn't find anything. Did find the codes to bring up Time Attack Mode and Enable Secret Guest Player for DF PCB though. ^_~

But there is supposedly a reset combo in Dangun FeveronPlasmo wrote:And very helpful for Score Attack if you don't want to wait for 4-5 minutes everytime you make a mistake.
The obvious resetcommand is Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, A, B, Start in case someone didn't know.
time attack mode as well. IIRC it was mentioned in a developer interview.

It won't damage the PCB, all it is is a software watchdog sort of thing that detects of the coin input is active for too long and resets the game in an attempt to foil credit stealing/faking.

but i think this is more a coin error than a restart so i don't do it because i don't know if it damage the pcb.

I won't tellGeist wrote:The answer is NO, IIRC.
Why are you asking?
Wanna be a perfectionist?

But thanks so far for the answers.
What would you think is the perfect way to implement something like this in an arcade game? I was thinking about holding the start button for 5 seconds or something like that.

Super power up ? Where can you find that ?Dave_K. wrote:Pink Sweets, making the super power up in stage 1 predictable.

if you let a certain number of power-ups drop down the screen, one will appear that is spinning very quickly, pick it up for enhanced firepower
same thing is true for options
(super options are auto-aiming, if i remember rightly)

Or just turn your cab off and on
Or just adjust your trousers, tuck in your shirt for once and stand straight.
Good thread!
actually more people should temporaliy rewire their stuff. For instance the service/test switch could easily be rewired to arm the 2P start button for instance or the last button for player 2. Just use those wires which have the crocodile teeth on every end. You know these for use of jumpstarting cars, but there are also small variants for more subtile electrical use in electronics. perfect for this problem!
just clamb one end on the service switch and the other end on to any button. just one wire! I do this also for credit. just wire credit and start to the same damn start button!

My question was regarding playing in an actual Japanese arcade. I don't think they have wired up the test button to the start button
Anyway I guess there is a reason why only one game has such an feature?
Does it in any way harm operators income? You will lose your credit using the code, doesn't you? As Jpn players stand up after one credit it should even increase the turnover.

Exactly my approach. Bad habit to develop though - I've done it so much on certain games now I have this awful habit for doing the suicide-restart before I've even thought about whether I should do it, and then realise I could have carried on to do great things with a certain credit.kernow wrote:I just crash into stuff and suicide in a ball of flames .. 3 times if necessary
*rocks out*
Did it on Raiden IV last night after loosing my first life on the third boss. I know I can get to the level four boss without loosing a life, but still, quitting just because I'm not doing a perfect run is ridiculous and counter-productive.
