YsI&IIChronicles and Ys7

Not another YsI&II remake . Ys7 announcement is fucking A though. The text reads:

"Ys evolves. From YsI&IIChronicles to Ys7" Hey, let's hope it's not an FPS.

"YsI&IIChronicles 2009 Summer / Ys7 on sale 2009 Autumn"

That's right, more or less solid release dates. None of that coming this (fiscal) year bullshit that companies love to do (which usually means sometimes the next year.)

Ys I&II Chronicles is a PSP port most likely. Though a remake on the Napishtim/Felghana engine would be nice too.

And yeah, I can`t wait for Ys VII.

Maybe Cloud will be in this one :D

I'll buy it. I loved VI. I hope it gets ported here tho.

It would be awesome as an FPS, especially with the attacking at an angle thing.

You wouldn't be attacking at an angle in a FPS . Besides, isometric run-and-gun gameplay style has already been done with Ys Origin.

If anyone wondered where I've been lately, "Ys" pretty much sums it up :D

Since Christmas I've gone through:

Ys Oath in Felghana
Ys Complete I
Xanadu Next

and have started Ys Origin and Complete II

A little hardware project has been taking the rest of my time and is actually Ys related, heh. More on that in about a week :D

The article I read somewhere about this event said that Falcom didn't actually announce what platform Ys VII would be for, which means there's a (admittedly small?) chance it might be for a console rather than/in addition to the PC. Odds of Falcom making a new Ys game not on the PC are low, so I'm guessing if it does get a console release, that will be "it's also on consoles." That would make me very happy, as it would mean I actually get to play it. Here's hoping!

I vaguely recall reading that Ys VII would be appearing on one of Sony's consoles, but I can't find the link...

MagicBox:
"- Nihon Falcom announced Ys Seven for PC, the 7th installment of the popular action RPG series. The series protagonist Adol will return as the lead character, the story is about five great dragons of Altago. Dengeki PlayStation hinted that there maybe a possible PSP/PS3 port of the game."

The Ys remakes are terrible on DS. Stoked for 7 though.

FYI, Altago has been mentioned in Ys timelines, books and novels for YEARS by Falcom, but we've never seen anything from the area before.

This is awesome!~

YS7 is coming to the PSP. Japanese link:

http://www.4gamer.net/games/044/G004486/20090319056/

Says that Ys7 will have a new battle system and multiplay. The main character is Adol (yeah again) and your partner uses Dogi, etc. Coming September.

Also mentions Ys1&2Chronicles coming to PSP. Based on Ys1&2 Complete for the PC, but with new gfx, soundtrack and other new additions. Coming July.

I have to say I'm surprised that Ys7 isn't coming out on PC since most of Falcom's fanbase is on the PC. I would've preferred it on the PC too because of the beefier specs, but this gives me a reason not to sell my PSP.

It'd better be a heck of a lot more playable than the PSP port of Ark of Napishtim.

I've never seen any sales figures for Falcom's PC games in recent years, so while I'm surprised that Ys 7 doesn't have a PC release (yet?), I don't know if that's actually a well-calculated move or not.

Also, recall that Ys 5 was Super Famicom only... so maybe this isn't as unforeseen as I initially thought.

Nothing saying they can't do a nice LE of it on the PSP.

This being a major Ys release, I don't see them not giving it the premium treatment. More than that, I'm worried whether they can do something cool for the PSP. I can't see them topping Felghana without going all out on the PC.

People are fucking greedy bastards nowadays and devs are happy to bloat their games with filler and features to sell their games. I hope Falcom includes a feature to go at it with just one character and that multiplay actually means you can play it with other people.

Looks like it's using 3D models now? Also the character art has really gone downhill from Origin if the scanned stuff is any indication.

Edit: Other than that though it sounds pretty cool. Being able to play as Dogi should be a riot if nothing else.

Like I mentioned over at Ancient Land of Ys, it looks like Ys running on the Xanadu Next engine. XN is amazing, but Ys simply demands more detail than that (after being spoiled with the likes of YsF and YsO).

And yes, it does need to be on PC, then other systems.

Falcom just announced "Ys VII" (not "Ys SEVEN" as they have very specifically been spelling it for PSP) will go multiplatform. It's on the investor's page, in a nondescript PDF like every other release, so not likely to be an April Fools crap, but there is a very slim chance.

I am happy to hear this. And so are the official Falcom boards, which were up in riots since the PSP annoucnement. :D I am not surprised if this is due to the immense pressure from fans being annoyed with their recent decisions. Looks like Falcom still has the small game developer heart intact from their 1980s heyday years. :D

Yeah, I read about that this morning over at Ancient Land of Ys :D Super awesome for them if they release a PC, PS2, or PS3 ver. Especially as I've just about got a dedicated Ys system dialed :D

I never got to play any of the original Ys games on any platform, so I'd definitely go for an Ys I&II re-release for PSP.

It will be a good re-release, unlike the DS one. Graphics are pulled directly from the gorgeous 2D 2001 PC releases.
