Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?
sorry, THE is my game to hate on.... I don't really hate on to much on here. This is my one scape goat. I deffinately deal out more love than hate on here though.
still though... THE is my favorite game to hate. Maybe I should gibe it another spin though.

Anyone else get a free suction cup thingy and some dice with elvis hair gum that has a sticker entitling "with our compliments..." I don't want to open the suction cup thingy, but i can't see what exactly is inside, it's taunting the hell out of me right now. As for the gum that's dice shaped and has elvis hair...wtf. I'm not even sure if it's gum. One of it's ingredients is "bacteria Beverage."

They don't ruin the game per se... they make certain aspects easier, some harder and others just rather annoying/awkward. Granted, I can't stand being forced to play Story Mode in yoko format, but I suppose if you have a large enough TV, it can offset that.MR_Soren wrote:Do the technical issues ruin this game, or is it still worthwhile for somebody who doesn't have a DC or 360?
The art assets, animated intro and new selectable character are appreciated... but it looks like the focus was on enhancing aspects that don't actually have anything to do with the game itself.
Got this yesterday. I can't tell quite what they did with the scoring system yet. Playing irresponsibly I had 66m at the end of stage 1 in Story Mode. The PS2's laser clocked out before I could finish an entire round, though.
Judging by the music and textures, it feels somewhat like a backport of the X360 version. Just uglier and with copious amounts of slowdown. With a new character and extra modes to "consolize" it more. Oh yeah, and the extra art, voice and animation that apparently adds so much to the price.
So far, from my initial impressions, I'd still rate the DC/NAOMI version my favorite in terms of gameplay.

Larger does not meant better if you get a LCD HDTV. You have to run PS2 through component and upscalers to make everything look ok because interlace looks like utter shit on my Sharp 37DH65EnZero wrote:Got this yesterday. you can't run it in progressive as far as the PS2 port goes.... can you?

So anime cutscene upgrades on a faulty port are worth $90-100?Elixir wrote:This game is great! Despite the slowdown and damaging gameplay aspects not present in the previous versions which can be found for cheaper, the anime cutscene ending was totally worth it.
Elixir wrote:Yes, because it's a smart idea to spend $72.90 USD for something that looks like a shmup minigame compilation. I'd rather buy a Japanese visual novel for the same price because I'd probably get more enjoyment out of it and it would definitely last longer. Do you not see the problem here? And before you say "I'm just cheap", remember that I own arcade boards and I've imported every shmup for the 360 so far, including Otomedius G which was seriously not worth the price, and Raiden IV which I played about three times.

i would say it's only worth the buy if you absolutely love the characters or the game itself. it's more of a collectible than anything else.
anyway, does anyone have the week 1 sales? i'm curious.

Horrible port. If you've played the game on DC or 360, you'll notice why. The newer character moves incredibly fast (think Abnormal Reko in Futari) but she comes to a halt when stuff comes on the screen.
There's slowdown in every single stange, too. Basically whenever there's items on the screen the slowdown will be present. It's nice to actually use my custom stick on a new release, but I'd much rather use a 360 controller than have to suffer with this amount of slowdown. The PS2 port is unplayable.
'd recommend the 360 or DC versions over this any day of the week.

How the hell do you run it in progressive mode? There's no option like that in Display Settings >>Kiken wrote:I stated that the game supported progressive scan at least a page ago.Strider77 wrote:you can't run it in progressive as far as the PS2 port goes.... can you?
