New Astro City cab

Post by Rob79 »

Hi Im not really familiar with Jap arcade cabs. I found this one locally for sale.
Its got a jamma harness to play PCB games.
Just to confirm , will it play all the old Raiden , Twin Cobra, Aero Fighters, and Strikers 1945 series Arcade games ?

What kinda PCB's does it no play ?

thanks

I don't know the answer to your questions (I'm pretty sure it's yes), but I think I can answer it by saying you need to buy that.

Seriously though, if it's got a Jamma harness, shouldn't you be able to play anything Jamma?

Oh, and he's got it running a game from 1994, so I don't think the refresh on the monitor should be an issue.

It should.. Thats why I asked.
All the games I want are mostly Jamma. I was on this website to make sure.

It's awesome. That's about it.

The panels and parts are easy to get either on order from Japan (or from the group Seimitsu order that goes on here).

And tons of people around here have cabs just like it, so you'll always have people who can help you fix problems.

put it this way rob...this has the same monitor as an egret2 providing it is stock....the screen can be rotated for vertical games easily with 2 people....

the monitor will output both 15khz(everything you want to play) and 25khz(dont worry about that)

it will play pretty much anything with a jamma pinout

it IS what you want.....if you want a japanese cab to pay PCB's, this is it!

and honestly dude....i live like 15 mins from you....just buy it and i can come help you if you have any problems.....for $500 that cab is in great shape and from the pictures the screen looks relatively burn free....

even if you need help getting it into your place without destroying it, i can help you

i have 2 of them rob....you have been invited to come see them.....this is a fluke chance for you to get one, right away.....BUY IT!!!!

just buy the thing already!!! ***exasperated smily***

Looks like a sweet deal, especially with Jonny to help you rotate that monitor.

Go for it.

What a dissapointment...

The pic that was sent to me and I posted in teh first post was a cabinet that he had sold, so he says.

So I went to club 300 bowl today, upstairs, he has 11 cabinets there, I believe 2 were Blast city, and 9 were New Astro city.
I inspected each and every 1, and they were very abused, dirty, buttons missing, and even the Raiden Fighters Jet control panle was cracked on the side.
So I called the guy from neweravidegames and he said he was going to recondition it when I buy it. I said no way. Not for that price.

The search continues... :(

i am very interested to go see these cabs...i think you have unrealistic hopes for the condition on these....

after all....they are from arcades.....most people who get these cabs spends a fair bit of time and effort to fix them up and make them sexy again so they dont look like an eyesore in ones home

these things are over a decade old for the most part, have been around the world and worked near constantly in arcades.....

if you think you are gonna get a pristine candy cab for $500 you are dreaming.....try 2-3X that amount and you might have some luck

I had this experience the first time I played on jonny5's cab. You get used to it.

And yeah, if you buy a used arcade cab it's going to be in less-than-perfect shape. They'll all need some clean-up work of some degree.

takes getting used too....you are used to playing vert games in yoko mode, so playing fullscreen on a 29" screen will take some getting used too....

very soon tho you will find anything else seems too small

All fixable. If the monitor's not burnt and the cab is local, grab it.

For myself, its always the monitor that is no1 priority. If its shining brightly and the colours are sharp and wonderful, you can't go wrong. All buttons and joysticks are light and easily replaced. Even a panel isn't the end of the world, it just bolts on.

You should have asked if re-conditioned means like the one in the pic

If my cabinets look like that when they arrive come July, i'm a happy camper.
