Good game news/info/etc sites, need recommendations

Post by Cthulhu »

There used to be several game-related sites I visited on a regular basis, but I think now I'm down to three that get updates with any real frequency.

1) kotaku.com
2) joystiq.com
3) siliconera.com

Hardcore Gaming 101 is a great site too, but it only gets updated once or twice a month.

Any other places worth reading? The above three are great for news, but are rather light on "features" that aren't just "hey look at what's coming out" type blog posts.
"Am I the only one who thinks it's funny that people start declaring a game is overrated before it's even out? "
"You're at shmups.com. We're all psychics full of righteous indignation!"

I just go to Kotaku. There's one site that aggregates gaming news from all over onto one page, which is pretty sweet, www.n4g.com , although I don't much care for it myself because I enjoy reading comments and the people commenting on that site seem dumber than a sack of potatoes. Kotaku on the other hand has one of the better communities.

I pretty much stick to Joystiq and Kotaku myself these days, although of those two I tend to like Kotaku better. Joystiq's comments are just trolltastic; Kotaku's comments are a bit less so, but that depends on the thread.

For other games sites, I do occasionally visit http://www.jayisgames.com which is a site that sticks primarily to casual games (mostly Flash, but some downloads as well) and is good to keep up with what's new on that side of gaming. If nothing else, it's usually good for a timewaster or two.

Giant Bomb is pretty good. Their 'quick look' features are usually pretty entertaining as well.
