Okay this question is not strictly related to shmups only, but anyway I wanted to ask here rather than another forum:
I want to display the PS2 image signal on my widescreen LCD monitor, which is an "acer G24 OID". I am especially interested in an option that somehow routes the image signal from the PS2 into a window, on the laptop. I do not want to use, and particularly buy, XRGB-3 at this stage. I am rather thinking about getting the video signal from the PS2 through some kind of external capture card or external TV card. However I do have only little knowledge about these cards, don't know if they usually come with video-in or not, and if they work with some standard software like D-Scaler (would be good), or if some can only work with proprietary software (could be problematic) or what. I was searching and windowshopping a little for TV cards (here in Japan; the ones I saw were mostly 1 Seg cards), but it was completely unclear to me if any of these would be useful for what I want it for.
Could someone please recommend me a (tv/capture) card, for the ultimate purpose of displaying a Playstation 2 image signal on a widescreen LCD monitor? The card would need to:
* be available in Japan!
* be external, as I have a laptop (has USB, PCMCIA, and also the newer PC Card inputs)
Especially if you had some experience with it, wether it has lag or not, and which software in works good in conjunction with, that would be great.
Thank you!
