If you were blind...

Post by TWITCHDOCTOR »

what would be your favorite color?

Also, if you were blind, and there exsisted an arcade stick in Braille, what would be your favorite Shmup? 8)

In other words, post count plus 1.

If I were blind, I'd have more important things to worry about like counting how many people I can hit with my stick. And fashion OMG some blind people dress TACKY. Phuck. In my college, there's this blind guy I affectionately know as "born to be wild" for the reasons above.

I would wear clothes with swear words and offensive comments on them and act like I had no idea. As far as shmups go, don't know how you'd play them... if I remember correctly, they require hand-eye coordination, and without the "eye" part, you'd just have "hand coordination". And I know other hobbies in which you can practice your "hand coordination"...

...writing! Ok, enough of that, sorry....

There's an interview with a blind gamer in the latest issue of EGM. I'd sit here and try to explain how he manages to play and beat games (single player and vs.) until I'm blue in the face, but it just wouldn't make any sense. Cos I don't quite understand it, either.

Guy supposedly lives right here in Connecticut, though.

I hope you guy's aren't taking this thread too seriously...as it was meant as a joke/sarcasm topic.
But, in any case, we're all guilty now!

I agree. Unless I was born blind, then I wouldn't know the difference.

Since I wouldn't be able to see, I would not know what colors looked like and so my favorite color would be a nameless color I imagine in my head, or I might have a name for it like, "ahhh smooth prickly sparkle" or something.

My favorite shmup would be one I imagine in my head, which I play to shoot the evil demons that took my vision in the womb!

Being blind would really suck for me, since how would I be able to play videogames? I value vision over all other senses.

I could live without smell, some things you don't wanna take a whiff of.

Without sound would suck, but not as much as being blind.

Without touch, well, I can touch squishy and wet stuff without being grossed out.

Without taste means I can have a better diet because I can eat all that healthy junk without gagging.

But being blind? I'd rather commit suicide than be blind. Vision is probably the most important sense a gamer can have.

If I were to lose my sight I'd probably go all Ray Charles and try to learn to play an instrument to keep me busy, since reading, TV and games are naturally all out. Well, there's writing for the blind, but generally speaking. Music, music, plenty of music.
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

I you had to lose a limb what would it be?

an arm or a leg?

I rather lose a leg than an arm I suppose but then I wouldn't be able to escape from stuff i.e. natural predators, at least I could still shmup.

What about part of a limb i.e. hand or foot? foot again.

Did you notice the games he "beat"? Mortal Kombat and Clayfighters? Hell, they're just button mashers.

You don't need to see to press buttons.
