Here's some information I thought you'd like to hear from this year's SF GDC:
A new company called "2-Bee Games" is hosting an Indie game competition with a $10K grand prize with the cance for your game to be ported over to a console! There's only one month left to make a submission, but it only has to be one demo level with a file limit of 250mb.
Here's something else that might be interesting; Adobe has revived it's Director program, with more video and now 3D support.
Just a side bonus: At our school's portfolio show, a Level Designer grad is offering a single level horiziontal shmup for free on his portfolio website. Details and links to the game are on his demo reel page
Hope that was useful!
$10K Indie Game competition and other news:
This should really go in Development.
Also Indie game competitions are just excuses to slap together the prettiest-looking pile of crap and completely ignore gameplay. Me, bitter? Nah.
Also also I lol'd at that guy's 1 level demo. I think even shitshmup would be more entertaining. And I made that in 2 hours.
