If you use Google or go to any website that displays AdSense ads without blocking Google, then you're tracked. Your ISPs have every record of you stored in case of a government subpoena.

Chrome really doesn't have much of a difference except make a not-so-private experience faster. But again, I still normally use Firefox because it's more compatible and is great when posting on forums (not for the plug-ins though; they're just memory hogs to me).

That's why I have NoScript and Adblock Plus installed on Firefox, you can just select the websites you trust then block all the other things that are used to track you etc.

I'm on a machine using XP and I only have 256mb RAM installed, and I have 17 add-ons installed, I don't have any problem whatsoever with memory leaks or any of that nonsense. I find that's mostly just baseless attacks made up by people who use an alternative browser. The reason I don't use any other browsers is cause of all the useful add-ons Firefox has.

It's not made up. You can look in the processes to see that Firefox takes up more and more memory with more add-ons, some of which use a significant amount. Having 17 sounds like it could double Firefox's memory usage (something I've experienced before when I had 10 useless plug-ins loaded before), which would just be too much for me.

On my PC with 256MB RAM, sometimes Firefox (as the only app open) goes haywire on memory and lags everything down for maybe 20 sec., esp. the longer I leave it open and when I try to open external files (Youtube). On my Mac, Firefox will always stop functioning at some point (normally around a week), becoming very erratic in opening pages. I have to close it and restart for it to work. Nothing major and it's still my browser of choice, but annoying nevertheless.

Hmm, I don't really know what to say then. I haven't had any real problems with Firefox since the 2.0 version, I never have problems with lag or the program not responding. I think a lot of it is to do with what type of hardware and OS you have as well, I have had problems with Firefox freezing and not responding on a 3GB RAM Vista machine quite a few times before.

And as for RAM usage, my Firefox never breaks past 100MB so I'm fine with that.

People still use Internet Explorer?
Of course, that's just an opinion.

Any browsers that don't require an install?

Yeah, using the same instance of FF for a week will really slow things down. It's more-so leftovers from tabs you've closed. No browser will run fast after a whole week of being used like that.
Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.

I thought Chrome was supposed to get rid of that problem. Close the tab, no leftovers?

Actually, wasn't IE8 supposed to do the same?

Shame there's the freezing I mentioned before.
