Henry Hatsworth in the Puzzling Adventure
Henry Hatsworth in the Puzzling Adventure
Is anyone here planning to get this one? It's coming out on the DS this week, and looks like an interesting combination of a platformer and a Tetris Attack / Panel de Pon style puzzle. It looks like the type of game I'd probably enjoy, but I'd be interested to see what other people think of it. It seems to be reviewing well so far though.
It looks pretty cool, I'll definitely get it. Make a 2D platformer that's even halfway good and odds are I'll buy it.

I don't understand. It's by EA, yet looks like it doesn't suck, and is original IP?
What's the world coming to?
EDIT: preordered.

Oh by the way - the official site has the OST for free download, MP3 format.
Is this /really/ EA?

Yea it really is EA. They're being pretty cool lately and not a corporation void of creativity and heart. Dead Space, Mirrors Edge, and now Hatsworth. New IP central.
This game looks pretty great. Platforming and puzzling at the same time!? Sign me up.

Ironically, last year was one of the worst for EA sales-wise in a while. They've been pretty good about admitting some of the problems - namely launching pretty much all their big new IPs in the middle of a terribly flooded Christmas season. The fact that they haven't hid behind their usual tactics also amazes me. I'll happily support them as long as they keep this "new and not dumb" thing up.Crayon wrote:Yea it really is EA.They're being pretty cool lately and not a corporation void of creativity and heart. On one hand, I still have a hard time convincing myself to buy EA stuff because of the Madden Monopoly. On the other hand, they have actually been putting out some surprisingly decent stuff lately. There's also the fact that Activision has convincingly taken over the lead in the ongoing "Most evil company in the gaming industry" race in the past couple of years to make EA look better in comparison...

Meh, this game is a little too gimmicky and easy for me. Hit a few enemies, go to puzzle screen chain some blocks, repeat. The actual platforming element is pretty weak. I've only done the first set of levels and I have like x18 lives lol
I'll play this for another 30 minutes, if it doesn't get better then it's going into the will not play again pile.

I wouldn't say the game is too bad, it's just a bit easy and slow paced for my tastes. You have to go from the game screen to the puzzle screen every couple minutes. There are also no time limits in the level or anything to keep you on your toes. I would go as far to say I've enjoyed it more than the DS Castlevanias and most other 2D games available for the DS. I'm going to continue playing it myself.
Also I don't see any difficulty settings or options.

This looked like one of those titles that would be really hard to find in stores, so I just ordered it off Amazon. I'm guessing that Gamestop will have it, but I hate buying "new" opened games, so...Vexorg wrote:Anyone else having trouble finding this? Nobody in town here seems to have gotten any copies in. If I don't find one by next Monday or so, I'll probably just end up ordering off Amazon.

I'm really enjoying it
Took a while for the platforming to really get going though.

OK, I finally managed to get a hold of this, and I'm enjoying it so far. I haven't really had trouble with anything besides a couple of the boss fights (I'm only past level 1 though. The platforming is done reasonably well on its own, although the puzzle probably wouldn't be anything worth writing home about by itself.
Oh, and for those that are wondering, there does appear to be a higher difficulty mode available after beating the game once.
Edit: Also, I find that the puzzle seems to work just fine for me using a finger (ior more accurately, a thumbnail) on the touchscreen. It's not 100% accurate, but the puzzle is slow enough that it works better than the buttons for me.
