avoiding "difficulty mode abuse"

However I'm not sure it is such a good idea. Using this for practicing against him would kill some of the fun, wouldn't it ?

Instead, I suggest you make it invincible AND increase its difficulty : patterns, speeds and all. Even though that should blast off the capacity of the system and result in intolerable slowdowns, screen overfilled with bullets and reset mandatory to gain control of the game again. Also make a big blinking message covering the whole screen :

WINNERS DONT USE CREDIT FEED

so that they understand what happens and keep practicing for 1CC.
