Do True Last Bosses belong in Boss Rushes? And, I am not revealing that Duality: ZF has a true last boss!

lol!ZOM wrote:!NEWSFLASH> Duality: ZF HAS A TLB<---!
Is there a game with a boss rush and true last boss (does Raiden III have a true last boss)? I am wondering how it's typically done, and wondering how it should be done, if those two don't coincide...ZOM wrote:On a serious note, I think the appropriate way of implementing a TLB in Boss Rush is to unlock it after the player beat him in the original game.
To tell you the truth no one comes to mind at the moment, but then again, the only TLB I was able to reach was Mushihime's.Matthew Doucette wrote:Is there a game with a boss rush and true last boss (does Raiden III have a true last boss)? Ketsui Death Label had more TLBs in it than most games have popcorn enemies.Matthew Doucette wrote:Is there a game with a boss rush and true last boss (does Raiden III have a true last boss)? I am wondering how it's typically done, and wondering how it should be done, if those two don't coincide...
This reminds me of a weird dream I made about a new DDP where the first popcorn ship I met on the first level was like the LB of Mushifutari. There were 8 of them on screenNecronopticous wrote:Ketsui Death Label had more TLBs in it than most games have popcorn enemies.Matthew Doucette wrote:Is there a game with a boss rush and true last boss (does Raiden III have a true last boss)? Anyway, I think that a TLB should not be in the boss rush. It should be the candy or reward only given out to those to truck through the full game. There should be SOMETHING DIFFERENT at the end of the full game, right? Love your opinions...
TWO TLB's at the same time in a boss rush? Wow.croikle wrote:Two of them. At the same time.
First time reaching that (without knowing there is 2 TLB's) has to be the biggest shock ever! it was for meMatthew Doucette wrote:TWO TLB's at the same time in a boss rush? Wow.croikle wrote:Two of them. At the same time.
I think you should put a TLB at the end of a boss rush but, it should be a completely remixed version of the TLB. Kind of like Ketsui Death Label's Extra Doom. You fight the TLB of the game (Doom) but this time around the boss does completely different or majorly altered patterns. It's EXTRA DOOM!!!! and there's no chance in hell of beating it no matter how hard you try. Or,

Just some ideas, not that they're original, except maybe the last one...

This one is really a design choice. It depends on how many bosses there are in the game, how long the boss rush will take and how hard it actually is.
Some games have harder bosses in the boss rush (not longer, bosses that take too long to kill can get boring). This way it makes beating the boss rush a real challenge.
Other games have different paths or secret bosses that will be present in the boss rush, making it more epic (more encounters).
In the end, it comes down to how "Epic" you want your boss rush to be.
Personally I would include a graphically tamed down or alternate version of the TLB (the TLBs right hand man
) , with alternate patterns (somewhat reminiscent of the TLB). Could be harder or easier, once again that's a design choice.
While on the subject of TLB, are you going to include the TLB in at lower difficulty levles? (bad idea imho)

*If* we have a TLB...
It will probably not appear in the boss rush, to give a special reward for those who play through the whole game (tougher and more time than the boss rush).
And I love the idea of having teh boss rush having harder bosses, as boss rushes are so short, they could be harder.
EDIT: And it will not appear in the lower modes as you cannot complete our game in the lower modes. You have to be in Normal or above to beat the game.
