this was an ass kissing competition. obama's gift was a message that he doesn't find the special relationship all that special.

he couldn't compete anyway. anything american that's really old and historical is either related to war with their country or genicide/slavery. their gift was quite a reminder of this.

the only gift I can remotely think of would be a moon rock or an early bell labs transistor.

besides that our only other major contributions are music (jazz, rock) and film.
