I wouldn't be surprised if this one-of-a-kind Robotron cab makes an appearance at the 2009 CAX show. Whoever buys thi piece of arcade history definitely has bragging rights. ^_
Yes, playing Robotron 2084 always kicks my ass everytime I get the chance to play it at the California Extreme show. I even got to play the ultra-rare protoytpe Robotron 2085: Blaster cabinet in Ceres, CA back in 1983 or 1984 a couple of times at a 7-11. I have never seen it since then. Sure, I've played the regular production Blaster cabinet as well but it really doesn't compare to the prototype of version of the same name. What was really cool about the prototype Blaster game was that it featured actual 1st person viewpoints of some famous Robotron 2084 enemies like the Grunts and the Brains coming straight at you. ^_~

The prototype arcade game of "Robotron 2085: Blaster" as shown word for word, on the full sized marquee left an indeliable impression on my mind. Makes me wonder if it got trashed or if it's still around somewhere in some vintage arcade gamer's stash. I had to presume that the sequel was supposed to take place a year later after the events that take place in Robotron 2084, hence the "Robotron 2085" tagline. It's still a cool piece of Robotron sequel history from 1983 timeline of arcade games. And what was interesting about that prototype RT 2085: B game, it was placed inside a traditional woodie cabinet & silkscreened with different conceptual artwork on the side cabinet panels compared to the later released regular production Wiiliams' Blaster cabinet with a Duramold (all-black colored specialized plastic composite) cabinet setup. ^_~Ed Oscuro wrote:I'm not even sure that Google knows what this is. IRT: That is more or less a stock production Robotron 2084, right? Would be cool to have given it's one of the designers' machines, of course!

PCEFX! should remember that Steve Ritchie was at the CAX 2006 show along with Eugene Jarvis, who gave an hour long talk on Robotron and Defender/Stargate.
Sad to see that today's economy is forcing Steve to sell possessions like this.

Yes, how could I not forget that. And I have that famous talk about how Robotron 2084 came to be with Mr. Jarivs captured on miniDV tape for posterity. I should burn a copy of it on DVD-R for safekeeping. That was indeed, the highlight of the 2006 CAX show to see/hear what Jarvis had to say about his arcade game creation -- priceless. ^_~Dave_K. wrote:PCEFX! should remember that Steve Ritchie was at the CAX 2006 show along with Eugene Jarvis, who gave an hour long talk on Robotron and Defender/Stargate.

And didn't you get one of your Williams arcade control panels personally signed by Mr. Jarvis, Dave K.?

It's been relisted
I can't believe noone has bought this yet. If I were in the Bay area it would be mine. Darn, my fist post here. Just found out about this forum
Any of you using my auction site yet? It's been taking off pretty well among the console crowd. The arcade crowd has been a bit slower to pull themselves away from Ebay. I hope some of you try it out. I think you will like it compared to Ebay, especially for selling.

I've known about it some years, never really gave it a look as I mostly deal with imports...chasethechuckwagon wrote:Any of you using my auction site yet?
