AWSD + DC

Post by neorichieb1971 »

I contacted Andy at Ultimarcs yesterday about getting some DC kit for my AWSD.

I already have a VGA cable for the AWSD so that should take care of that.

Andy says I need the control pack (DC > PS2 convertor > JPAC) and the JPAC itself.

Does the audio run through the jpac as well?

Can you think of any reason why this set up wouldn't work on my AWSD?

Thanks.
This industry has become 2 dimensional as it transcended into a 3D world.

Hi, the audio does not run though the J-Pac. Everything else will work though, but you'll need some kind of harness if you're going to use more buttons than 4 (unless you use the "shift" functions of the J-Pac).

Don't connect your video through the J-Pac, only the controls, you should use the AWSD's D-Sub VGA connector for the video.

Edit: It seems like the suggestion below might not work. Anyway look here: http://www.arcadeotaku.com/forum/viewto ... 8&start=15

Easiest way of connecting the sound (if the wiring of audio is the same in AWSD as in the EGRET II's) is to connect it to the 4-pin "P"-connector that should be available somewhere near your JAMMA connector.

It's basically a "line in" input with this pinout:

RIGHT CHANNEL | RIGHT CHANNEL GND | LEFT CHANNEL GND | LEFT CHANNEL

I cut my connector off from the cord (as finding a fitting connector for it outside Japan is a bitch) and added a female phono instead. You can plug in any stereo audio source in there and it'll reach your stereo speakers.

Good luck.

That is a great idea.

I have a connector that fits in it, but its just basically four pins with some wires on the end.

well you've got video and audio sorted, now just hack some dreamcast controllers and skip the ultimarc stuff altogether.
