Stupid parents sold my SNES!!!

Post by FatCobra »

Argh!!! Never leave your old consoles at your parents house!!! Even if they insist that you leave it behind so it'll help your college studies. They just don't understand that most new videogames don't have that old school spirit that the older ones have.

My SNES had the following games:

Super Mario Allstars
Earthbound (it costs $55.00 just to rebuy the freakin' cartridge!)
Super Metroid
Super Mario World
Axelay
Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
Rock n Roll Racing

Now I got to buy all that shit again just to enjoy old school goodness. My parents SOLD my childhood!!! ARGGGGHHHH!!!!

I don't think I can ever forgive them for this.....

This sucks......

Take this as a sign to forget the SNES even existed.

Get even. Sell something they hold as valuable and buy a replacement SNES with the money.

Sorry, don't follow my advice. But it sucks, man. It sucks. I know how you feel. My mother once sold a beautiful Unix workstation-type 22 inch IBM monitor for cheap, just as I was going to buy the adapter cable to connect it to a VGA cord. She still insists a 40 pound monitor simply grew legs and walked away from the garage on its own. Go f***ing figure.

It's pretty hard to forget a system you loved to death as a child and had some really awesome games for it. Don't tell me to emulate because it is not the same. They also sold my NES as well, which of course I miss, but not as much as my SNES. I hate how my mom will just sell stuff that I don't use anymore, but I may want to in the future. My sister loved Earthbound as much as I did, and I thought it would be safe with her since she would have still played it. But not even then.....

Maybe I am being too hard on my mom, but this will affect which retirement home I ship her off to when she's too old to be on her own.

At least I have a job so I can easily replace what she sold. Looks like the money for DDP Saturn is going towards a new SNES instead. I've got a Gradius III cart sitting without a console anyway.

You know, it's funny. If I was born before videogames, I'd probably would have built a hot rod and then get really pissed when mom sold it for spare parts at the local scrap heap.

been there before and it sucks. It bites when people see things that you consider important as, "just some random shit in the basement". While I was gone my family managed to chuck more than one box of stuff that was important to me (i lost CD cases for virtually all of my Saturn, Playstation, and Dreamcast games and a good number of boxes of comicbooks that I had got damaged or thrown away).

Not much you can do about it other than explain to them how important this stuff was to you and how you really would like for them to respect your property more in the future.

My little brother, on the other hand, is a lying thief and it pisses me off to no end that he not only rooted through my room stealing my porn but that he also lied to my face about it when I asked him about it. Seriously, I didn't really care about the stuff; if he'd asked I would have just given it to him.... He didn't have to steal it. Now I've got a little brother that I can't trust. Great.

Tried explaining that to my dad, and all he said, "You've got a PS2, isn't that good enough?" And then I try to explain to him that new videogames don't have that same soul and feel as the older ones. He tells me that I have better things to worry about than some old videogame machine, like college. I am not even in school anymore because the grades and stress were getting to me and that the old Volvo they gave me is falling apart at an alarming rate. Having my SNES sold means that I can no longer trust my parents. I was looking forward to getting all that stuff back when they moved down here, but when I asked mom about it, she sold the damn thing a year ago! And I just talked to them an hour ago! I don't even want my PS2 anymore because of this news. My SNES....gone......

It's hard to let go.....especially since I wanted to play Earthbound again. I bet she didn't even sell it on Ebay, but took it to a pawn shop or a thift store.

I'm not driving my busted old Volvo all the way from Florida to Arkansas just to search every pawn shop for my SNES.

Me and my old roommate used to rack up discounts and free gifts from adultdvdnow.com

Hell we'd order stuff from them and sell it at a slight markup once the PXs stopped selling porn worth a damn (sometime around 1998 anything more hardcore than Playboy got pulled from the shelves from PX/BX/NXs, which isn't so bad in the US but in Japan? Shit, brothers gotta get their non-mosaic'd fix). Good times.

My dad said that some controllers and cables and some other stuff survived my mom's selling rampage, and my little sister loves Earthbound as much as I do, so maybe she hid it from my mom.

Parents....they will never understand.....I cannot forgive them for doing this......tell me to grow up when Dad plays Diablo II all day...and then selling my childhood memories.........I will never forgive them......and they cannot take my Saturn away....no matter how stupid they think it is......they DO NOT GET IT AT ALL.....they will never understand the pain they have caused me.....maybe this is why everybody thinks their parents are annoying.......I am a retro gamer and they cannot change that....I will have the last laugh when it comes time to stick them into the retirement home......

I know I am just whining about something material, it can be replaced, but can't a guy lament the loss of something he considered dear to him as a child? I know it's silly, but alot of us do get caught up and treasure our possessions. How sad would you feel if someone stole your Saturn and all the rare shmups you had for it? I'll eventually get over it and move on with my life, but it's hard to let go sometimes.

Losing an arm would suck way much more than losing a ten-year old console. All I know is now I can't trust my mom with any stuff I leave at her place for fear of her selling it.

Some people just feel they need to act more "distant" to material things, don't sweat it. Your parents sold away a piece of your childhood and sold something you owned without your permission, me thinks you have a right to be pissed, despite it not being physically attached to you.

And if someone stole my Saturn and the collection, people would die shortly thereafter.

FatCobra: Something you have to remember about Rob is that he's the resident contrarian. He'd probably argue me about the finer points of Rocky and Bullwinkle on the Genesis. *VOMIT* So whatever you're going to say to him, just say the exact opposite and you're good.

Well, the graphics on the PS1 almost made me wanna barf at times. I know Saturn's 3D is worse, but I didn't buy it for 3D gaming, I bought it for it's awesome 2-D capabilites.

FatCobra, I think it was rude of your parents to sell your SNES off without asking. Honestly, they should have at least asked you first.

Probably with indifferance if they gave me the money, lots of rage if they don't. I am getting tired of the mainstream and I am considering selling my PS2. I'd give it up to be able to play Earthbound again!!

I personally would hold on to it. Stuff like the SEGA classics collection, Gradius V, Shadow Hearts Covenant, and Castle Shikigami 2 make me proud to own a PS2.

I guess it's the depression from the loss of my SNES that is making me want to sell my PS2. I guess I'll hang on it. I just wanted to be able to play Super Metroid and Earthbound again.

yeah. I know it's hard. Hopefully, you'll get lucky and find a cheap SNES at a yardsale. I wish more places still sold SNES stuff, or other classic gaming stuff for that matter. I still like LttP better than Orcania of Time or Wind Waker (though those are great too).

Oh the melodrama...

Shit, over the lst year I've HAD to sell my Neo, Saturn and SNES collections just to pay the rent. Life sucks sometimes. Get over it.
