I don't know about that, but obviously they are in a position financially where they can afford to have games completely tank if it means that they gain a few more customers.

We'll see a real test of both companies policies with the next gen of systems once some 2D titles roll out the door for the Xbox 360 and PS3. There are bound to be a few, and who knows if Sony or MS will permit them.

That's essentially what I was saying. Obviously, they won't release "Watching Paint Dry Simulation" (also known as Densha de Go..haha..just kidding) simply because it exists. But like you say, things that might gain them more customers, they will release with less hesitation than other companies.

And the boiling red blood shed in fierce gaming
Those who give up halfway through
Their battered bodies will never forget!

You certainly wouldn't have seen Steel Battalion on the PS2.

With regards to Sony's 2D policy, I don't like it because it tries to place objectivity in a concept that is subjective. I don't know about anyone else here, but I like to have the choice of what games I want to play and spend my money on without someone looking over my shoulder. With that said, there are people that would gladly pay $40 for these games if they were stand-alone games, however that doesn't make them idiots/morons/retards, etc. for doing so and vice versa. Bottom line, different strokes for different folks.

Another thing, please stop giving Sony more credit than they actually deserve, regarding the variety of their games. Just because they were the first ones out of the chute, that doesn't mean they're better. It's ridiculous and furthermore, unfair.

bloodflowers: i can voutch for the interlace garbage thing, i dont mind it in other games, but on ms3 it really sucks because of the 30fps. i THINK xbox has it too, but cant say for sure since i played it on a different TV.

and to clear up the confusion, the xbox pal version of ms3 gives you 9 continues, you dont restart at the beggining of the stage everytime unlike the US ver.
also, im noticing a slight difference in difficulty between the ps2 and xbox versions, but maybe im just seeing things so dont take my word for it.

the ps2 verion, however, has the enormous advantage of being playable on a decent pad. the xbox pad sucks ass, and yes i got the small "good" one. i ended up playing on the analogic since the diagonnals just dont want to respond for some reason.

ps: i agree with you idiots, sony is the devil, and microsoft is very cool and my friend.

i think i feel more hardcore playing on xbox than on ps2, but i cant say yet because i dont know whats the word towards microsoft amongst the hardcore gamer elite, i dont want to look like a lamer.

pps: sony of america cleanly sucks and are idiots, but as far as SONY is concerned (because the world is more than north america) ive yet to see a valid reason to mash them, besides being big, and marketing well as any company should.

ppps: i hate people.
