Asuka Burning Fest 120% Limited

Post by LoneSage »

I've been playing this for the Saturn for a few days now and I'm starting to like it more. Despite the manhands for a majority of the gals, I'm interested in playing a different fighter..the rounds are longer, there's only 3 main buttons, and the 120% thing can turn anyone into a cheap fuckbag, throwing super mover after super move at the opponent :o

What do you guys think of it? Everyone else I've talked to says it sucks, but I actually like it. I must suppress the hentai demon inside of me :(

I like it a lot. Tremendously fun. Maybe people don't like it because you can pull off lots of cheap combos all the time, but it's just so fun because it's over-the-top and very easy to play. I introduced this game to a lot of other shmuppers off the forum here at our last shmupmeet in Phoenix, and they liked it too. Quite often I'd rather play a fighting game that doesn't have deep gameplay and just wail away. Great stuff.

Hey if you like that game I highly recommend Advanced V.G. 2 for PSone. One of the better fighters (all chix too) for the system with pretty nice animation and smooth controls.

The gameplay mechanics are frickin' sweet. I like how attacks can be countered simply by hitting your opponent at the same time her attack hits you, or by dashing forward.

I have this game...and after finally getting my hands on Final for the PSX, I'd have to say I won't be holding on to Limited for long.

I'm thinking of getting one of the Asuka games. They are non-hentai games right? (It pays to be careful when all of the characters in a fighting game are girls IMO)

Asuka is non-H. I wouldn't recommend Advanced VG... I don't know about Advanced VG 2 for the Playstation, but I used to have the first one for the Saturn. It was pretty borderline hentai, at least in the one player story mode. When you'd defeat an opponent, it would show her in rather suggestive poses. I sold it, along with Pretty Fighter X, which also had a 17+ rating but wasn't very hentai at all. I never played those games, so I sold them. Especially after I got married, I didn't want such racy games in my collection.

Anyhow, the Asuka games are suitable for everyone.

Yah, I wouldn't really recommend the first Advanced V.G. either. The 2nd one is much better. The only hentai like element it has is in Story mode the character you beat would have ripped clothes but you don't see anything. They are still covered up. It plays nothing like the first trust me.

It looks like the Asuka games have been around for a long time. There's even one on the X68000 (if I remember correctly)! I think I might import one of the PSX ones.

I have Burning Fest Final for PSX. truth be told it had some novelty fun, because i like the art style and the mechanics are interesting. not being a fighting fan seriously hindered my enjoyment, although i suppose the same can be said for most fighting games though.

oh and BrianC if you want my copy, maybe we can work something out.
I have no sig whatsoever.

I bought Asuka 120% for the PC Engine (don't remember the exact title). Mainly just for novelty's sake. Playability isn't as great as the Saturn one... you can't dash if I remember right. The Saturn version is cool becuse you can dash right into a barrage of fireballs and deflect them with a clang clang clang! The same happens when your attacks cancel each other out.

From what I heard, the Saturn Advanced VG is uncensored and the PSX Variable Geo games are censored.

It's been a while since I've played that game, but I'm pretty sure I remember that there was no nudity. Just rather suggestive poses with torn clothing or something like that.

Whatever it had in it, it was apparently enough to give it a "yellow label" rating...

Yellow label includes suggestive images, which is the extent of Advanced VG's nudity as I recall. Seriously, a lot of the yellow label is really tame. Stuff like Pretty Fighter X, Steam Hearts, and Suchie Pai 5th Anniversary have zero nudity.

As for Asuka, it's too much of a button masher's dream. Connecting 9-hit combos is pathetically simple and degrades technical skills. I also happen to hate the ugly looking "big hands and feet" sprites. Reminds me of a poorly drawn Sonic Council.

I agree that Advanced VG 2 is really a great game. The controls are actually pretty fluid and the designs are great. Even the story is top-notch. Only problem is that the characters are seriously unbalanced.

Well, I love games like Marvel vs. Capcom 2, so I think Asuka 120% will be something I might like. I tried the SNES Super V.G. on a rom. It's a fun game, but suffers from some balance issues and a few other flaws. Also, the computer AI for Ayako seems to have been made purposly dumb so she can do a fanservicy dance. I'm actually more interested in Advanced VG 2 now that I found out that it doesn't have actual nudity in it. Too bad the balance issue hasn't been fixed since the earlier VG games, though.

Yeah, Super VG sucks. The controls are really unresponsive, more like the Pretty Fighter games.

As for character balance, the new characters exemplify how completely uneven they are. Kyoko really sucks since all she has are pokes and no good specials. On the other hand, it's cake to combo into any of Saki's specials and supers.

If you like MVC2, then I guess you'll like Asuka. Be warned that it requires much less skill though, esp. the earlier versions.

Heard a lot of good stuff about it a few years ago so i picked it up.

Never was able to force myself to like it, though. No matter how much time i try to put into it, I still feel the game blows. At least it was only like 1000-1500yen.
