Shooting Love 200X is surprisingly fun

Post by Cthulhu »

I wasn't a huge fan of Trizeal back in the day (bought it anyway to support the lil' guys), but I figured I might as well pick this up. I'm glad I did. The "find your shmup age" (they call it gamer age, but whatever) section is quite entertaining and has a fun and quirky personality - the dialogue quips are cute, the messages are amusing, etc. The minigames/missions themselves are fun as well - a lot more fun than I was anticipating. I ended up playing through this a few times this evening, more than I was expecting to.

I'm not sure how different Trizeal Remix (or whatever they call it) is from the original, but for whatever reason I'm really enjoying it this time. Maybe I was just in a bad mood in 2004 or something.

Haven't tried out Exzeal yet, but will do so soon.

Overall: a purchase I made on a whim that turned out to be a good move.

I just gave it a quick try, but been playing a lot more DDP, which came out on the same day. Not a very big fan of Trizeal's shmups, mainly got it for collection reasons.

Trizeal is one of my favorite games this decade, so Shooting Love 200X is almost a system seller for me.
I hope it isn't hard to come by when 360's are down to $200.

I didn't import this specifically because I didn't feel like it was going to be worth the import price. I'll eventually buy it but from what I've seen it's just a dodging simulator. I can do that with my PC already.

I also don't have any Play-Asia coupons or I would. Economy's too shit to go without them.

Edit: Speaking of Play-Asia.. their description of Shooting Love 200X mentions that this game can determine your age. What the fuck? Does that mean that people that have better dodging skills are younger? That's not right. Man, they'll try to sell anything these days.

It's just a gimmic. Wii does this in their wii sports package. My parents who are 62 and 63 were determined to be 71 and 77. Then my dad got better and he's 21 now. I'm older than him now. We went to a whore house.

Considering that 360s are already down to $200, I can safely say that the game isn't hard to come by.

Yes, because it's a smart idea to spend $72.90 USD for something that looks like a shmup minigame compilation. I'd rather buy a Japanese visual novel for the same price because I'd probably get more enjoyment out of it and it would definitely last longer. Do you not see the problem here? And before you say "I'm just cheap", remember that I own arcade boards and I've imported every shmup for the 360 so far, including Otomedius G which was seriously not worth the price, and Raiden IV which I played about three times.

The "test your gaming age" bit is a fairly minor part of the package. The main attraction here is Trizeal and Exzeal, both of which are full games.

The age finding bit is a parody of things like Brain Age, which are -really- popular in Japan (and elsewhere, but to a lesser extent). The minigames in it just happen to be quite a bit of fun.

I was expecting the age-finding part to be a total throwaway and so I was pleased with it because it turned out to be rather entertaining. The main attractions here are Trizeal and Exzeal.

The music in Shooting Love 200X is getting on my nerves.. it's techno and opera (aka controlled screaming).. Trizeal's boss music is also fucking annoying.. but I like the 3 games over DOJ BLEX. At least this game doesn't have you waiting for a minute before the bloody game loads.. everytime you boot it up too.

Currently working on Exzeal but I might get around to 1ccing Trizeal sometime.

People who have this game already please write something more about Exzeal. How is the gameplay compared to Trizeal? Are the graphics as shitty as in Trizeal or better? How are the graphics compared to Raiden IV?

Thanks

What has been remixed in Trizeal remix?

Maybe I should have gotten this over DDP. I have not received my copy yet, but i liked the pictures of 200x, but a few comments tainted my perception. Will have to ponder this one. Hopefully a few more people place their comments about 200x here.

This interests me too. Hopefully it's not just some new music, but maybe new levels (probably not), new ships, whatever.
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

I'm really looking forward to receive my copy of this, mainly for Exzeal, so I'm keen to hear more about it too.

Being a tight-fisted git, I ordered mycopy with Ketsui 360, so I don't have to pay for postage twice, which means I'll be waiting for a while!

Ketsui still has no release date, who knows if it's actually gonna come this year. ;)

so what are you saying here? your dick is bigger than mine?

the issue is you posting in a thread and being dismissive of a game you know little about, or simply don't understand.

Please don't take what I say out of context. Thanks.

The issue here is NOT that I'm being dismissive of a game I don't own, but one that I don't think justifies the $72.90 import price (which I've already mentioned earlier). I didn't like Trizeal when it first came out, either.

Please tell me what I don't understand: it's a shmup minigame compilation with two older games ported to the 360. Right?

1 (altered) port: Trizeal.

But if you didn't like Trizeal there´s no point in getting this of course.

To each their own.

This may be the system seller for me.

Elixir, this is all I have to say to you since you didn't buy the Hyper Stick Pro package for Otomedius yet own PCBs:

Anyways, I liked Trizeal and I totally forgot that the compilation was coming out this month, so I forgot to order it. I will remember to get this sometime in the future.

I have no clue what's remixed about Trizeal Remix, unfortunately... I pretty much snubbed the original when it came out (which I am now discovering was probably for no good reason), so I don't have any basis of comparison.

I'm curious what the minimum age you can get is. So far the best I've been able to do is 24 - my theory is that the minimum will be the same as Brain Age, which is 20, so I still have room for improvement.

From what I could make out in the videos of Trizeal Remix, it looks like the bullet patterns were altered. I'll have it tomorrow, so I'll be able to make a better comparison.

Also, for those that have it... how is -0 (Minus Zero)? Does it have to be unlocked?
