Why does the HK & JP PSN won't accept my CC or Wirecard

Post by ZyN »

Hey guys,
since two days I try to buy some Shumps at the HongKong or Japanese PSN StoreS but everytime it sais that my credit card details aren't valid I have to check them carefully........... I made that over a dozen times but everytime there appears the same error at the end of the purchase.

I tried my VISA card and I also created a wirecard account, nothing of both works.

Any ideas hot to get them ?

B/c your card is not issued in respective country. They won't take foreign cards.

The PSN uses redeemable point cards, does it not? If so, that would probably be the best bet...though I imagine they're region-specific?

I can't even get the US PSN to take my card (a debit Mastercard that works for every single other thing I've used it for) for some unknown reason. As a result, prepaid cards are the only way I can buy anything off PSN. Perhaps you're running into the same problem?

The only solution seems to be using only pre-paid cards.

Otherwise you have to find a Credit Card Company in the respective country to issue you a card. But the problem is how do you paid for the card bill then? TT?

By the way, are the available games at the HongKong and Japanese PSN StoreS be the same? I suspect that the HongKong PSN StoreS got less choices.

The Hong Kong store doesn't have all the Japanese releases, but it also carries content from USA/Europe. So it's a mixture of everything.

My credit card is also only accepted in my native PSN store. Been using prepaid cards for every other store (check some sellers on ebay or also Play-Asia are carrying them). You will end up spending a bit more, but that's what you gotta live with after all.

NCSX also carries the cards. Their prices aren't any better than Play-Asia's, but their shipping is faster if you live in the US. They also might have them in stock if one of the other places is out.

If you're looking to buy PS1 shmups, it's better to just buy them off Yahoo Japan. There is nothing worse than trying to play an aged PS1 game on a HDTV in horrendous upscaled misery.

As it stands there isn't really anything worthwhile in the shmup department for the PS3 right now.

Ebay only has one seller who sells this card and he doesnt send the code by email.

You have to pay shipping costs for the plastic card there :(

Related question: I signed up for a JP PSN account, after already having one from the US. Whenever I try to log in to the JP account from my PSP it tells me not to use the alternate another account. Any idea if there is a way around this?

When you first link your PSP to a PSN account, it effectively region locks the handheld for all future official downloads. I'd imagine custom firmware would sort that out, although as I'm still running official firmware on mine I don't know for sure.
