Border Break

Post by Koa Zo »

Why is there not a multi-page thread of rampant speculation regarding this game?!!

I guess I'll start one!

Announced for the AOU2009 Show, the teaser press release says "Sega Network Robot Wars", and indicates 10 vs 10 battles. It also clearly says AM2. So why would anyone jump to the conclusion that it is a Border Down sequel?

I may be going out on a limb here, but the typographer in me says otherwise: take a look at the font for the Border Break text, now take a look at the Border Down title font. there are a number of striking similarities. Not to mention the green "break laser" in the background of the Border Break title.

G-Rev and AM2 collaboration?! I'm sold!

Change Air Blade with 10x the confusion?

Or will people be controlling popcorn or minibosses, sort of like Arkane's upcoming The Crossing?

I'm gonna have to go with "not a shmup" on this one. The evidence seems to point towards a mecha war game like that Gundam thing.

If it turns out to be a very weird online-shmup-vs-mmo-bbq -game instead we can just move the thread back to the relevant section.

Japanese don't need something like that. Most ppl already shun gaijins.

It'd be hard to compete with what they have going in Mexico.

Gameplay vid confirms it's a mecha war game with some anime characters thrown in.

Looks like some kind of mix between the sit-down cabinet Gundam-games and Virtual On. The screen is a touch screen and you only use one stick with your left arm and some mouse-looking thingy with your right.

Thanks for the heads on that new arcade hardware...makes me wonder if any new arcade shmup titles will be developed for it in the nearby future. ^_~

I doubt that you can label a simple PC as "new arcade hardware". :o

I guess I'll start missing the dayw of proprietary architectures.

look on the bright side, they switched from using Linux (Linbergh) to a nice warm and fuzzy proprietary Windows embedded 2009 OS.

Looks surprisingly fluid given the hardware. I wonder how easy/possible it will be to swap out the system's lethargic Pentium-brand CPU (much better would be to get rid of the GeForce, of course).

Why all the fuzz?

Seems like bog standard mech game to me.
Nothing pretty or innovating and if it really plays like in the vids.... pretty boring and tedious.
Even Slave Zero memories (though much oppressed) flew by watching this

Enlighten me, please.

Based on the vids I'm curious but not particularly impressed. If it gets an expanded home port that keeps the online play I'd certainly give it a shot. I refuse to get too excited about games I can't play though.
