Cats are nice animals. I see people who use dogs as replacement as a child. As where a cat is more of a room mate.

I don't see that at all. Dogs are needy little bitches that have to constantly be attended to. Not to mention that they can be loud and obnoxious.

Cats generally don't give a shit if you're around one way or another and are much more independent than dogs. I'd rather clean out a litter box once a week than be taking the dog out several times a day, even when it's shitty outside.

Edit: This picture says it all.

Great, nothing better than a couple of links to stories about yet another sick fuck in the world to completely ruin my day :? But at least it seems that his little tough-boy videos backfired pretty badly

I love my cat dearly.

We've had her for over a year now and believe her to be about 6 1/2 years old.

The rescue home we got her from found her on the street severely beaten with several very young kittens. Looks like the previous owner didn't want the kittens so kicked the shit out of her and then threw her out.

As a result she's pretty screwed up around most people but has come to trust me. She also point blank refuses to go outside at any costs which is quite strange, it seems she thinks she won't be able to come back in.

I also wanted to take another cat that was around 10-12 that had had acid thrown in its face but I couldn't provide the special care required for her antisocial reactions. She was not really a fan of people any more.

The best thing about a comfortable and content cat is their will to do exactly as they please. I sometimes only see my cat at meal times and when I come in from having a cigarette as she enjoys playing around the flat in different rooms and sleeping in the window or on the spare bed.

my family's cat (the most recent one that isn't dead yet) must be about 14 now. we had his mother before then, and him and his siblings were all born on our old couch  kitty birth isn't that pretty. or when the mother eats the placentas :o he's a tart and flirts with anyone. i would post a pic if it wasn't such a girly thing to do..

i'd like to get reincarnated as a loved house cat i reckon 8) apart from getting snipped, it's a nice life

my girlfriends family used to take in cats that needed special attention :)

My cat stays outside mostly, but somehow she's managed this odd way of beating the shit out of every other cat in the neighborhood despite being obviously far older than most of them. (she's about 15-16 years old by this point.) She spends most of her days now chilling out and wandering around the yard, instead of going out across the whole neighborhood like she used to. It's better this way though. Atleast I don't have to worry about her not showing up at night to sleep in her box by the door.

Still, she's peculiarly taken in to taking care of this obviously beaten cat that looks like it's been through hell and back. It's kinda upsetting really. it looks like an old cat, and rather tattered at that too. Doesn't seem like it understands how to fight and take care of itself too well, because every time it comes up it's bruised and scabbed up. My cat doesn't seem to really like that it's here, but she atleast seemed to teach it how to do basic stuff for awhile.
To be honest, I dunno what to do about it. It's obviously a very kind cat, considering it'll come up to me and let me pet it. It acts alot like a house cat, from what I can tell. Maybe someone left it out here because they got tired of it? I remember there was an old man who lived in the house at the end of the street, maybe when he died his folks kicked the cat out and beat it trying to keep it out. I'd hate to know that was the case.
Either way, what CAN you do about something like that?

Wait them up in a dark alley. Beat them up, cut off their hands and tongue and stick out their eyes. Then let them try to identify you.
Be quiet though or you might have to cutt off their ears too just to be sure.
All errors are intentional but mistakes could have been made.

In that situation id take the cat in or atleast arrange and feed it/shelter it around that area.....our first cat we took in which belonged to our neighbour was one of the most beautiful things you could ever see.

it was a similar breed to this one

Image

the neighbours bought it basically left him to sit outside all day and night in the rain and snow after a few months we got worried and started to feed him and bring him into the house even if for a few hours. Due to the crap weather and lack of treatment he had bulges of furr all over the place and looked in bad shape....my dad decided it was best we took him in and we did this without questionthe thought of the neighbours coming around and arguing with us about doing what we were didnt phase us one bit. They came around one day with 2 boxes of cat food suggesting that "it was a mistake to have bought a cat"......fucking wankers! (i hope they rot in hell) anyway we took him in and he started to care for him we cut the bits of crap hanging off him and fixed him up, he started going out twice a day but a few months went by and he just wasnt himself and one day he just wouldnt get up after repeated attempts we got really worried so when my dad got home from work we took him to the vets where the vet said he'd developed some sort of cancer and had to be put down.

We got home after and couldnt stop crying....my dad was a mess id never seen him like that before my mom was crying and my brothers and sister too the whole family was deeply upset.....my dad said we'd never have another pet again....im not a pussy but I cried like a real baby when it happened and agreed that we'd never have another pet again.

Then it was like deja vu that another cat ended up on our doorstep.....very friendly a tabby which belonged to a neighbour across the road he was VERY friendly as when we were in the garden sitting down on the grass the Tabby would come over and sit in our laps he was obviously house/people trained and we could see it belonged to someone but he just wouldnt leave. Hiding out under the tree in our garden until we came out to play every afternoon he was always a welcome sight :)

My dad found out lol and demanded we take him to said neighbour and when we got there and warned the neighbour to take care of their own pet she brushed us off and continued talking on her mobile. Anyway the cat came back the next day and again and again he practically lived there in our garden for a few weeks. The garden door was open so sometimes he'd sneak in and my mom would give him some chicken and milk then we let him take a nap in the kitchen there was a old sofa there he'd sleep on. Eventually after contacting the neighbour like 6 times and hearing the same "ya dont worry we'll take care of it" crap from her we asked my dad if we could keep it after a few tears and constant beggin he was adopted by us and has been living with us since :) the neighbour has since moved (fucking bitch hope she rots in hell too) but she did come around before going with some cat food and thanking us for taking "it" in

mickey will be going to the vets today for some reason hes not been eating properly for the last 2 days :(

Cats >>> people

I wholeheartedly agree with this statement. Most people really suck, and usually it's the dog lovers who suck the most. Like this one time, my mom found a poor starving bony little stray cat, so she started feeding it whenever it came by the house. This lasted for a few weeks, and then out of nowhere, our stereotypical redneck dog-loving landlord shot the cat for no good reason.

The only thing I hate more than dogs are the irresponsible fucks who don't put them on a leash and instead let them roam around where they don't belong, killing my cats in the process. Some of my favorite cats I've lost to these fucking rabid mutts, like this absolutely beautiful Himalayan flame-point I had that was so incredibly sweet and wouldn't hurt a fly. One day I wake up and find him ravaged in my yard with no justice in sight. And before you ask, I can't keep the cats inside because I'm allergic to them. Why couldn't I have been allergic to dogs instead? Urgh.

A lot of these dog owners have this attitude where they think their dogs have unlimited rights and my cats have none. Complete BS.

If that ever happened to my mickey id go round with a shot gun and save a shell for the dog owner too  (no im not joking id probably shoot him in the knee) but since we live in the UK we have no guns so a cricket bat will do the job

I just picked my cat up from the vet today. He'd been there since Thursday on an IV drip. Long story short, his kidneys failed (acute renal failure) and he had to spend some time there in hopes he would recover. I was very happy to be able to pick him up today, he's only 3.

He's recovering now, definitely not 100%, but much much much better than he was Thursday. My cat is sorta like a dog in cats clothing. He likes water, thinks every human that comes into the house is there to play with him, and loves being around people. Some of his siblings from the litter play fetch, though he doesn't.
