Cats >>> people

Post by CMoon »

I left my hometown (and the midwest) 7 years ago with little interest of returning. The whole place could burn down and I wouldn't know. But the cat from the book store is put to sleep and it is new. People are e-mailing me about it. And yes, they're right to do so. This was a damn good cat. One of the best.

I love the fact that people are writing in from all over the US because everyone who met this cat is going to miss him. I mean, heinous shit could be happening in the news (and probably is), but this is more important news to me. If you had met this cat, you would agree. One of the best cats ever.

Is that a remake of the 1942 film?

Very loosely based on it.

Actually I've changed the link to the Tournier original due the slightly NSFWiness of the other clip (transforming boobs!)

Hmm...

Also, Taokaka, latest object of obsession of the fanart crowd. Makes some pretty hilarious NSWFy material though. Not to be confused with Kaokaka, which in Google brings up some random Eastern European footballer.

'>' is a greater than symbol.

Before complete derail, what I was trying to get at (besides just wanting to mention this really awesome cat) was how pet news sometimes eclipsed everything else. Seriously, I never really hear much in the way of news from my hometown. But this is news, goddamit!

Sorry gang, didn't start at the beginning of the thread. Must be tired.

Anyway, cats certainly > chimpanzees on zanac...er, xanax, a drug not made for them.

I'm thinking

What did you put in front of me? This isn't string. I can't eat this. THIS IS A FUCKING PAPER WHAT DO I DO WITH IT. I can't eat this I can't play with this arrrrgh paper in front of a cat

Although most the cats in anti-Kenny Glenn pics seem pretty composed. COOL KATS

I wonder if there are just a lot of sick people out there, or this is displaced anger (a lot of adolescents have pretty shitty lives.) I don't mean that it would change anything---but I'd feel better knowing that so many kids just aren't inherently sick fucks. *sighs*

That Travis incident certainly was a lesson we can all learn from. I'm keeping my chimps well separate from my xanax stockpile from now on.

And from my chainsaw collection. Just in case.

There was certainly something weird about the excitement he displayed as he committed the act -- kind of a breathless frenzy. Plus there was the weird shouting of "You hate me, huh? Do you hate me?"

Perhaps I should amend my comment to: Now there's a kid that needs an asskicking shrink!

I really have no interest in watching the video. Trying to keep my faith in humanity here...

I watched it so I could properly calibrate my level of outrage.

Although the cat was obviously distressed, as far as I could see the kid was actually turning most, if not all, of his punches into slaps at the last instant. It's hard to gauge how forceful the slamming against the wall was, but I'd say there was a fair amount of playing it up for the camera going on. That's not to say the cat wasn't suffering, but I suspect no lasting injury was inflicted.

Glad it's been removed from the home. Hopefully its next owner will restore its faith in humanity. As for your faith in humanity CMoon... how about a helpful firefighter? Which kind of sort of almost brings us back in line with the premise of this thread.

Cats piss, shit and leave hair all over the house, but I still love them. I love them even more when they do something useful like catching mice and cockroaches (my first cat was awesome.)

I don't have pets anymore. Animals are a bother and for people with too much free time.

BTW, a woman's loving-and-like-part-of-the-family 200-pound male chimp nearly killed her neighbor. Crazy shit. The chimp suddenly went apes and started mauling the poor neighbor like a rag doll and ripping her to pieces.

I'd never heard about this, and reading some of the reactions, I'm rather glad I never saw it. Being a cat lover myself, I can only see such people as wastes of space. However...

I don't give a shit if the kid was 'playing it up'. Even if the cat wasn't seriously injured physically, it's hard to imagine the mental and emotional damage that cat's been through. During the second clip of the abuse, Glenn takes Dusty by the neck and slams him on the floor a few times, and the cat makes absolutely no noise; he just lays there in a defeated, submissive, stoic crumpled mass of miserable feline. This leads me to think that this wasn't the first time the cat had been abused.

Whatever punishment that awful kid gets is too light. I personally want to beat the kid until he's wailing as much as the cat was.

So you wouldn't have been upset to any greater degree if the abuse was worse?

My pointing out that the kid seemed to be playing it up a bit for the camera wasn't an attempt to condone his actions.

What he is saying is that there is no justification in his eyes even if the kid was just pretending to hurt the cat.

Right. Besides, we all know he was hurting the cat, or else it wouldn't have been screaming like that.

I just watched that Glenn video, if this kid was living in the UK I'd actually fill the tank on my motorbike up fully and make a trip around his house I dont care if its on the other side of the UK to beat his little ass to a pulp, there is NO justification to this video, being a Cat owner im really at a loss for words.

Kenny Glenn is a douche, but a minor douche compared to a guy I was friends with in grade school. He doesn't even have the excuse of being a fucked up adolescent, though he was, at a time, a fucked up adolescent.

I am not really a cat person myself, but can see how
people are upset by loosing their token cat.

I'm not suggesting the cat wasn't suffering, nor am I trying to justify the kid's actions. By saying that it appears the kid is playing it up a bit for the camera, all I'm suggesting is that - hopefully- the cat didn't receive any lasting physical injury. I understand your outraged "I don't give a shit!" response, but I think the point I'm making is relevant, if not to you then at least to Dusty.

@Acid King. I hope there are some cat-lovers in that prison.
