2D games on a large LCD...Can I make them look OK?
Just finished trying to play Last Resort (PS2 SNK collection) and it did not look good on this new big screen LCD. I have toyed with lots of picture settings to no avail. Anyone have any suggestions? The TV is a Sony Bravia, almost sorry I got it.
A backward-compatible PS3 is one option, but it introduces some lag which might bother you when playing timing-critical games. Here (link below) you can see about every other choice you got. Common sense is that the a XRGB machine is the best to achieve what you want.

Note though that the SNK collection isn't a very faithful emulation. The games are running in 480i instead of 240p.

I'm in the exact same position, the ps2 games I play look very pixelated and the sprites seem blocky I wish it looked as smooth and sharp as it did on my old 28 inch crt TV
is there a way to sort it?

Where could I E-mail or mail to if I want to address my ideas and Opinions?

Just for the record. Last week I had a little testrun with a 36" panasonic tube. A friend of mine threw his out and I've basicaly been on a CRT hiatus for over 4 years now. So before putting the TV to rest we gave it a run with various classic systems. It was a high end tube with RGB and component inputs. While RGB and component are still very nice to use a tube, colors are great and blacks are of course incredible, I can honestly say that a properly choose and equipped 1080p LCD or Plasma is just better. Geometry is a huge problem and so is 100% perfect convergence. The 50/60Hz flicker is also a huge problem for the eyes, especially if you're used to LCDs. We had his new 1080p LCD and the tube side by side and with a XRGB in the chain we really couldn't find a single point in which the CRT actually was better (besides blacks, but how important is that for gaming?). The standard processing included in the TV sets might be a stepback from the "raw" tube picture, but with a little preparation (in the end a question of money) there's no need to fear the stepup to an HDTV. And for TV (SD&HD) signals the LCD easily surpassed the CRT in every aspect (but that was to be expected).....
Moved to Hardware.
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

you're either refering to the Silicon Optix ImageAnyplace for $3000 or to my "Yokotate setup" based on a Holo3DGraph card, see info hereupscaler that can run in HD and make the picture rotate (so you can play the game in TATE without flipping a HDTV)
