The Xexex one in particular should be a real gem. Play-Asia is already taking pre-orders.

Word. I wonder if it will contain the different regional versions, as I recall there was something different with the weapon system between them (I think Malc had a few different versions and talked about the diffs).

Hoooray! Yet another PCB (along with Dragon Blaze) on my wanted list that I can cross off. A few years ago I would have never guessed the PS2 would be such a viable console for shmups...go figure.
This is both good news and bad. Why can't some of those games be bundled together? I realize that there is more than one publishing company behind those games, but really - all of those games could fit on one disc.

^^ Even with all kinds of extras those games should have been sold for $10, seriously they are ancient. Sure I'm still going to buy them anyway just for the sake of collecting, but still feel like being ripped off.
Usually I prefer games released separately, so that there is more room for nice coverart. But when it comes to these games, the coverart is probably going to be pathetic (if it keeps the same level as hamsters previous PS1 releases).
And to think that Xexex was slated for an appearance on the SNES CD a long time ago (before Sony and Ninty split and Sony turned it into the PlayStation), and now it's appearing on the PS2
Preordered! August can't come fast enough.
And I find it highly unlikely that it'll be the World version of the game only. It'll be most likely the Japanese version only, or if we are really lucky, both on one disc
And if IGN's description is true, then Xexex will come with the original OST, and Perfect Selection (hopefully)...
These are old news. Mainstream sites are not the best source for niche genres, you know.

Judge by yourself. True low res display is a rarity these days. I don't think we'll see it again, if you ask me.
Until someone gets their hands on these games, or sees a formal specs sheet, you can't be certain just by looking at some screenshots whether they are including a true low-res option. Those sites could potentially be posting screens from the default filtered hi-res mode, but it doesn't guarantee there isn't also a low-res mode present, e.g. Shienryu on PS2 has both. In any case we're getting Xexex. Finally.

Holy shit is this system hot right now. Pretty soon the Saturn's gonna be sitting in the corner wondering if someone's gonna ask it to dance.
Yeah it is. I'm really kind of shocked at the goodness from the PS2 dev camp lately. I don't want near anything commercially successful but all these shmups are SO tasty.

Well, we've had Xexex via MAME for quite a while now but I know what you mean. I've also had my eyes on the Xexex OST but have resisted (strange occurence for me ) and that self control has paid off as the OST costs as much as this entire pack.
Woot, Xexex... I'll definitely pick that one up. The others are a bit too aged for me to want to pay that much for em though. If I have lots of spare money (not likely ) I might pick another one or two up, but Xexex is the only must-buy in there for me.
eh..just when i tought that putting xexex alone on a disc and selling it, even at budget price, was laughable, look at what we got, time pilot and other equally old games for 30$ each.
this is retarded.
fake edit; didnt read the IGN part, so they're selling it with extra stuff, maybe its not THAT retarded, or it is? im not sure if everyone needs that scramble strategy guide and OST, i certainly dont.
Awesome news, thanks TF! I have forced myself not to try Xexex in emu for a long time hoping to either get the PCB someday or a home port. Glad to see the latter surfaced. Woo. Xexex's color scheme and characters make it at least one of the most unique looking Konami horis ever so I can't wait to see how it plays.
Good news ona ll the other packs too, o' course. Anyways, even more glad my import PS2 is coming in the mail next week.

Well Xexex and Sonic Wings I'm actually happy about getting released separately with extras. But when it comes to those other games, no matter how many extras it is still retarded. Although I'm still going to support hamster and buy those ancient games on launch, but that is only to support their future shmup releases (like Xexex). I hope they re-release Soukyu-Gurentai too, because the PS1 version has a lot of slowdown, some sound gliches, and I would like to have that soundtrack

I mean, it's Xexex! One of the games that were supposed to be lost forever! I heard the PCB runs over $900. There goes collection value.
The value of the PCB might take a short-term dip but it'll probably stay pretty valuable as a rare board.
