Mame'ing shmups on the DC

Post by robthebanks »

I did a search, but after looking through several pages of posts I was unable to find a thread on this topic. My apologies if its been brought up before.

How does the DC fare in terms of MAME'ing shmups (and 2D fighters)?

Actually, the DC does a fine job with playing those PSX games like Takumi's Night Raid via Bleemcast route. It looks miles better on the ol' DC platform than on the original Taito G-Net mobo running the Night Raid G-Card version. ^_~

Anyways, the G-Net ver. of Night Raid has yet to be properly emulated on Mame. Stick with either the PSX or the G-Card version and you'll do just fine. ^_~

Mame is best left for PC-like machines for now.

Only enter if you have no other choice.

nah not batrider im afraid the only console you can mame batrider on is xbox and possibly fba on psp.games like nemesis, lifeforce play fine on dc also when it comes to 2d beat emups then there is streetfighter2 turbo.....
heres a compatibility list

also dont forget all those shooters on megadrive/genesis and snes which the dc emulates really well.
speaking of ps1 games i find g-darius emulates better on bleemcast than it does on pcsxbox(ps1 emu for xbox).

People seem pleased with the SNES emulation on the DC but I always thought it was bad. The only games I could even play on it without quitting because of the slower speed or glitches were Super Mario World and Super Punchout. There's a chance you might find the CPS1 emu a bit slow too, I don't remember being too impressed.

The Neo Geo CD emulator is really good though, for Aero Fighters 2/3 etc. Runs great.
That is Galactic Dancing
