Thats simply not true.

You can't get an NTSC system repaired if you live in a PAL environment country and the US side will only repair NTSCU.

who says the US repair center will not repair NTSC-J 360s? I've heard that people got theirs fixed, left a note saying its japanese region and not to replace the entire console.
