Oh, yes. True. If you know where to find the chunks of lapislazuli (blue rocks) and have the amulet, you get 2x the points, and then the fairies come to drop food. A little hint: After the fairy drops the third piece of food (I think it's grapes) hit her before she leaves and she'll drop an apple. It's only half a bar of life, but it still counts.

If there are no chunks or big coins around, ditch it and get something more useful like the blue bottle that speeds up your magic charger, the gold pot if your partner is weak, or the golden scroll so enemies drop more food and keys. Once you know where the secret chests are, or if the thief is with you, the crystal ball is worthless. I haven't found any use for the Crown. The gauntlet does increase the damage your direct slashes do, but grab it only for when you're going to face a boss. There's no point in using it against enemies who die in one hit.

My new record is 15. FIFTEEN. That was with Level 8 Amazon.

There is quite a bit of luck in this game with regards to what items you get.

That's crazy. Good job. I've always liked this game... I think old Capcom arcade games are really... distinct is the only term I can think of right now.
