I want to shoot zombies!

Post by Gamester »

Hey guys,

I am building a Supergun and I need to know what good shmup zombie game I could get. I am not sure if games like House of the Dead are JAMMA or not. I have also heard of a similar game called Beast Busters from SNK, but not sure if it was Neo-Geo or not. I can not find any place that tells me for sure.

It doesn't matter if it is Neo-Geo MVS or JAMMA, I just want a good shmup zombie game to get for my Supergun.

Thanks,
Gamester

Ok, so maybe shmup is the wrong word, but blasting off zombie parts is just as fun, lol.

Anyways, just looking for a good zombie shooting game to play on my Supergun.

Thanks,

Yea, the second level of Metal Slug 3 is some great zombie shooting fun! However, I am looking for a game that is aimed more towards a whole game devoted zombie shooting action.

Thanks,

CarnEvil PCB from Midway is another undead 2-D light gun shooting game. There is also SNK's S.A.R PCB (aka Serach And Rescue) that deals with the undead as well.

SNK's Beast Busters PCB uses a fixed gun setup like how it was on Namco's Steel gunner/Steel Gunner 2 fixed gun shooting cabinets. ^_~

Try Night Slashers. Doesn't have much shooting, but I'm sure you'll like it nonetheless.

Ah man, CarnEvil looks killer! I can't believe I never seen that before. I wish I could find a PCB for that game somewhere. There are some full cabinets on eBay, but of course they are $1000+ bucks.

Night Slashers and and Zombie Raid looks awesome too! I have played Zombie Raid before a long time ago, but forgot about it until now. I have never seen Night Slashers before, but it looks like some nice zombie beat'n up action!

Just wondering, does anyone have a CarnEvil PCB? If so, is it hard to setup to use a light gun or is it just a matter of finding one and plugging it into the PCB?

Thanks guys!

SAR would be the best game on here by far if it wasn't relatively easy (still hard for me but I don't have a spinner for emulation) and the jump mechanic breaks the game a little. Still a damn good concept, a shame SNK dropped the overhead shooting genre ball with the Neo as that's where many of their best games got their play. Beats NAM 1975 and Crossed Swords and other compromised single joystick garbage by a mile.

I took a moment to search through some stuff online, and it appears that CarnEvil uses a shotgun-styled lightgun w/o an inductor. But apparently the Area 51 guns will work on it as well; an auction on eBay for some Happ guns claims they'll work on a variety of games from Midway (no surprise there, everybody likes standardization) with an adapter or some wire splicing.

There's a guy selling some CarnEvil shotguns on eBay, but they aren't cheap at $175/ea. !

Beast Busters is it's own hardware.
There's a Beast Busters 2 that I saw in the arcade and it looked awesome, but it was I long time ago. I'm gonna goog it.

*edit
On neo geo hyper 64 board. probably pretty rare. I couldn't find a good pic, but I remember thinking the game looked great with tons of blood sprays.

Another arcade based light-gun game to look out for is Konami's Crypt Killer PCB. It features the undead as well. ^_~

Crypt Killers looks pretty cool too. It looks kind of like a mid evil times skeleton shooting game, which is cool.

I would really love to play Beast Busters 2 sometime. I have never seen that one before in the arcades myself, just a few videos online, but it looks killer! I'm guessing it would not be easy to find that PCB though.

Here is a good clip of the first stage in Beast Busters 2:

Looks like the ultimate zombie shooting game! :D
