Einhander 2?

I found this searching for shmup music today.
It's not what you think. No Rick Astley here... not at all. 100% real footage. I swear.

We all know what would happen if he were to do that ..BulletMagnet wrote:Figures a homebrewer would take this up before Square would, heh heh. That is, if he plans to go any farther with it than a test.

A lot of these projects are made so the developers can draw attention to themselves. Also if they just released it like that, they open themselves up to lawsuits. Unless it's released 100% anonymously. The Coop wrote:If the makers are smart, they're shut the hell up until it's finished, and THEN release it. That's what they said about each Final Fantasy game .. until they realized they could milk their fanbase for more money.PC Engine Fan X! wrote:The real reason why Squaresoft didn't make a sequel to Einhander is because they regarded it as a complete story unto itself. ^_~

I think the thing folks miss is the Chrono stuff wasn't actually nixed. there's been shitloads of projects over the years attempting this sort of thing. the only one that was actually nixed was Chrono Resurrection, and that was because they were drawing rediculous ammounts of attention to themselves, INCLUDING the fact they managed to get a fully running engine developed that could run on the PS2. They even had the opportunity to go to E3 back when all that was going on. They were treading on tenuous grounds from the very beginning.
Any other square-based fan project has only been 'shut down', aka the sort of BRILLIANT excuse that kids and teenagers use. they got butthurt/LOST ALL C DRIVES/this is his mom he died don't ask/etc bullshit. Most other projects simply failed because they were shit.
Albeit that's where I see this going, as well as ANOTHER shitty Einhander project by some furry obsessed with a klonoa character:

Albeit I'll atleast give him credit for figuring out the music style enough that he made a few original tracks before the project dropped off the face of the earth.

And if they're smarter, they'd just drop the Einhander connections and release a stand-on-its-own-merits good shump. The Coop wrote:If the makers are smart, they're shut the hell up until it's finished, and THEN release it. You can't C&D what isn't posted all over the damn place.
I don't need a famous name to be sucked into a game.

Surely the current Square-Enix could release another shmup title...it's been a long time since Einhander made it's grand debut. Even Squaresoft's experimental tube shooter, riS: internal section, could use a 1080p HD format makeover.^_~Turrican wrote:And if they're smarter, they'd just drop the Einhander connections and release a stand-on-its-own-merits good shump. The Coop wrote:If the makers are smart, they're shut the hell up until it's finished, and THEN release it. Well, they own Taito nowadays. So I guess SIE has that covered for themPC Engine Fan X! wrote:

Shouldn't the title be Zweihander, followed by Dreihander and so forth until we're all eventually flying an octopus around?

Stuff is shittons of work; it'll end up like the 2d Ocarina of Time guy. If it wasn't for the attention, it'd make more sense to make a clone, and, perhaps, sell it and make hundreds of dollars for thousands of hours of work.

Eh, I never quite understood how/why these get made in the first place. If you have the ability and resources to make a game (how many people's dream is that?), why not just make something of your own? It always seems like a wasted opportunity to me.
It looks like a little creativity could save you from legal action too, apparently.

The Donpachi series is kind of like that too, no? The lead guy always stomps around and yells "THIS IS IT IT'S OVER YOU'RE NOT DRAGGING ME BACK, BITCHES!"Udderdude wrote:That's what they said about each Final Fantasy game .. until they realized they could milk their fanbase for more money.PC Engine Fan X! wrote:The real reason why Squaresoft didn't make a sequel to Einhander is because they regarded it as a complete story unto itself. ^_~

Yeah with Space Invaders Extreme and the upcoming SIE-2 sequel, looks like Square-Enix is back with the retro shmupping action scene. How about a more modern-day shmup title besides the usual SIE/SIE-2 games though? ^_~Turrican wrote:Well, they own Taito nowadays. So I guess SIE has that covered for themPC Engine Fan X! wrote:
