PS2 games most similar to Headhunter?...

I just LOVE this game, so I was wondering what other PS2 games are most similar to it.

I've heard the sequel sucks, and I keep hearing that Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell is the most similar-but, to my knowledge, there aren't any boss battles in Splinter Cell. How about Mission Impossible: Operation Surma?

*sighs* Perhaps I ought to give the Metal Gear series a second look. I didn't enjoy Solid that much, but I haven't played any of the sequels to it.

check out the syphon filter games.. 1 and 2 are awesome!! dont know about 3 and the PS2 version tho...

Winback's control took some getting used to, but the game itself rocked. IMO Syphon Filter 3 was the best of the Playstation trilogy. Awesome levels in there and it was cool how the first half of the game played as a series of flashbacks. Very cool stuff.

Unfortunatly, you might not like Splinter Cell. It's heavilly stealth based and punishes getting too crazy (similar to Thief II, I guess...which is also quite a badass title, if a bit different setting than what you're used to). The Metal Gear series rides the fine line between stealth (Splinter Cell) and action (Syphon Filter) pretty damn well, though watch out for wacky plotlines (infact, just ignore the plot).

One of these days I'm going to stumbled on the DC or PS2 version of Headhunters

Yesterday I passed on the PS2 version of Winback (for shame.. the dead voice acting in the intro was pure fucking comedy gold) in favor of some N64 games.. I'll probably pick it up next month

How's MI Operation Surma, in terms of balancing stealth and action?

I haven't played it. Heard it wasn't too good so I never bothered buying it. I guess if I see it for $10 or so I'll pick it up and let you know

Mission Impossible on N64 was decent and worth checking out (especially since it's ninja cheap now a days). I LOVED the NES Mission Impossible

I played a Splinter Cell game in my mate's PS2 in cooperative mode, and I found it to be really fun.

Though yes, if you try to be trigger happy, you will die quickly. But it's a lot fun to try to do that in 2 players mode

For Syphon Filter... I have all 3 games on the PS1, and 2 is by far the best IMO. 3 has some stupid weapons, and some crap level design. 1 is pretty good too, actually nearly as good as 2 IMO, but 2 has just more cool stuff.

Now Winback on the N64 was LOTS OF FUN in multiplayer... oh God, that game was really fun. Never played it in single player mode though, so I have no idea of how it plays.

Was Winback released for any system other than the N64 ?

There was a PS2 port... I think it got an English release too. Not sure though.

it did get released here.

i love splinter cell, but more often than not it pisses me off no end. walking in a straight line is boring, i'm hoping Chaos Theory addressed this issue.

Well, I couldn't find Headhunter today, but this thread did make me finally go pick up Winback (PS2) and Mission Impossible (N64). Two games that I remember having quite a bit of fun playing and never got the love they really deserved

Picked up MDK2A because of an earlier thread where I was reminded that it was the best version of an already badass title (and the only version I didn't already own), and I pity the motherfucker that don't respect Discworld. Loved the books

Well it's your lucky day, cuz Headhunter 2 is out for the PS2.

BTW, I don't think Syphon or Splinter are that similar to Headhunter....HH is almost like an RPG or GTA type game....you basically have one large city where you can roam and explore...you can drive vechicles, interact with people, etc....it's a really underrated game.

kind of different in many ways but still an excellent 3rd person action game, psi-ops is some of the best gaming i've had in a long time. you basically blast everything that moves with some tight controls, and as the game progresses you gain psycho-skills like telekenisis, and can even move round anything or anyone with the power of your mind. some really sadistic freestyle stuff can be done

the last couple of levels let it down a little but it's dirt cheap and fun as hell

I am in full agreement with Shatterhand here. I didn't think 3 was all that. A couple of the levels were rehashed from the first and second games... bleh

2 is fun as hell!

I can't believe no one mentioned Max Payne (or its sequel) yet.

Collecting evidence had gotten old a few hundred
bullets back. I was already so far past the point of no
return, I couldn't remember what it had looked like
when I had passed it.

I loved both Max Payne 1 and 2, but the PS2 ports were terrible. You can buy the pc version of Max Payne bundled with Mafia (easilly one of the best games of 2002) for $20 and then you can buy the pc version of Max Payne 2 brand new for $10. 3 awesome, awesome, awesome games for ~$10 a pop...now THERE'S a killer deal.

Oh, and the PS2 version of Mafia sucked ass (as did the Xbox port, sadly).
