STF2 wavy screen.

Post by sebastian17 »

I have a STF2 pcb board in a standard jamma cabinet (lesiure 2000) but when I try to play the game the screen goes wavy and I cannot view or play the game properly (although the sound is fine), I have the kick harness installed and other games like wwf play very well in the cabinet. Moreover, when I use my supergun on a normal TV the pcb works fines << please note all screen shots are taken from jamma cabinet.

looks like you need to adjust the horizontal hold

Yeah, knob on back of monitor probably. Although, the sync could be blitzed on the board (but I'm sure that's not it- that's rare)

I've tried to adjust the picture using the cabinet but to no luck the picures is still wavy... I've used this method on other games and image goes funny then comes bk fine.

On all games the image goes wavy?
It could be a dirty pot on your horizontal hold knob- if you tap or wiggle the knob, does it cut in and out? Scraping it back and forth or replacement would fix that. Is there a pattern to the timing of the breakup?

It's just STF2 that goes goes wavy << when I use the horizontal switch the screen goes one way then another (wavy) but if I use wwf the screen is still and playable.

That does look like a board I once had with a broken sync. Luckily it was old enough that full schematics existed.
