You can't find any legit NES controllers? Cuz US ones work on the A/V famicom.szycag wrote:If this is an issue I should bring my actual Famicom. It's the AV style (pic)
I still need to get some dogbone style pads. I bought two cheap chinese pads with turbo buttons, but those d-pads are really bad at picking up diagonals so they're mostly only good for Mega Man.

I think that would be great to have an annual affair!drboom wrote: I'm actually hoping to make this contest/meet a yearly thing - Summer Carnival in the winter. I'll also have to find out how to get a copy of Hi-Ten Bomberman at some point.
It works well logistically as Chicago is a good central point for the midwest. I am already looking forward to the fellowship of the St. Louis/KC folks as well as possible folks from Indiana and we will represent Detroit (and Toledo for Davey

A Thank You in advance drboom, for putting this together and hosting!
gunbird18 - the JP Dreamcast would be a good idea. Let me say that if anyone has a console they want to bring, bring it. Post about it, but bring it. I'm going to see if I can get a few more 27" TV's, so we'll have plenty of console love. I love the idea of getting some Recca/Alzadick dual screen action.
Sonic R - thanks for the thank you! I'm pretty stoked with the response as well - this should be a great turnout. But besides Andi - where's all the Chicago folk?

Got a famicom adapter and it works great, so we'll be good with Famicom carts. Playing The Goonies with it at the moment.
Dave'll be over this following weekend to help me set up and get his cab loaded into the apartment.
Those that have responded in the thread will be getting an email from me this week with my address and information about my neighborhood. You'll need parking stickers to park on my block (and most of the blocks surrounding) and I have a slew of them, so when you get here, I'll hand one out to each car owner which will cover you for 24 hours. If you are staying longer than that, I'll give you two.
I also have three old school pcb's on the way, all Toaplan love...

Shhhweeet! I am dying to play Dogyuun with sound!drboom wrote:Dogyuun is one of them.szycag wrote:Any of the stuff that's soundless in MAME like Dogyuun?Been dying to play this for some time now.
Non-shooty: I should have Demon Front in my possession for the meet! I don't imagine very many of us have seen this game in action??? Should be fun!
It occured to me that we probably don't want to be playing Recca and Alzadick all day and night for score as there will be a lot of other games to get to, so how about limiting the time you can post scores from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., with a half hour break for lunch? That way, the Michaganers get fair shot as hey are coming up aroud noon Saturday.
Packed in my lunchbox:
Genesis flashcart full of stuff (Slap Fight, Eliminate Down, Battle Mania 2 etc.)
Air Buster, Musha, Grind Stormer, Elemental Master, Sagaia, Trouble Shooter (Battle Mania 1), Rainbow Islands Extra, Twin Hawk. I can bring Fire Shark but I think I remember you having that, probably my favorite Toaplan game.
Famicom: Over Horizon, Final Mission, Abadox, New Ghostbusters II, Gradius II, Splatterhouse WG.
