Another Final Fantasy XIII Trailer-but this one shows battle

The battles look really cool! This could beak me out of my RPG burn-out. I love the science fiction atmosphere as well!

Yes, 2 days ago I was actually random browsing square-enix.co.jp till I noticed a countdown
clock with 32 min still left, so I waited and... I was amazed! Finally a gameplay trailer and it shows the battle system too!
And, I must say, the battle system looks very good IMO. Could be fun.
Very unexpected.

My favorite new character is the helghan soldiersSpecineff wrote:It looks cool indeed. Now, not to be a party pooper, but most characters look like re-mixed and re-matched versions of other Nomura designs. I can see a Wakka-Raijin, Zell-phiroth, Yuna-Rinoa, and Shinra-Quistis. Guess originality is overrated at Squeenix.

Yeah, they definitely look like helgan!. I don't understand what's so bad about the game having random battles-Dragon Quest VIII had them, and it was a beautiful and very fun RPG.
Will Square-Enix even be able to pull off a 360 port, given that the storage space on DVD's is a lot less then that of Blu-Ray DVD's?

Turn based isn't neccessarily bad if it's just well made and isn't too simple like FFX had. Valkyrie Profile 2 has a great battle system and I ended up making 3 playthroughs into the game just because of the battle system. It took me all those 3 runs to actually fully understand and master it and unlike FFXII the game actually became more fun at that point, crazy combos ftw. Difficulty being raised after every playthrough made it a lot more interesting as well, I wonder if they'll be adding an option for choosing difficulty for FFXIII but I doubt it since only FF game that had some sort of difficulty rank has been VIII so far and that was only based on your lvl :/.MX7 wrote:Shame to see they've gone back to turn based battles. Final Fantasy XII may have had an extremely weak story, but in terms of gameplay, it was by far the strongest FF to date. I can see XIII turning into another cut scene watcharama like X was.
No random battles? That's good, it was always so irritating to get into random battles when you don't want to. I always prefer to play JRPGs with as low level as possible so I wouldn't become too easy at any point.
and some awesome side boob you got thereUnscathedFlyingObject wrote:My favorite new character is the helghan soldiersSpecineff wrote:It looks cool indeed. Opposed to an AI watcharama? In my experience automatically casting Berserk and Haste on one guy does 99% of the battles in the game.MX7 wrote:Shame to see they've gone back to turn based battles. b/c it's square-enixgoddamn the characters suck.. why the hell have they snowed in on the j-pop-queer-eye-androgynous look?
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?
I gotta say the battles, though turn based, look pretty fluid and fast-paced. It looks like this game is going towards cyberpunk. The characters seem to be standard fare... I like the designs, though, especially chocobo fro man Sazh (who isn't seen in this trailer.)
The fanboy in me hopes it's something like FF7 in scale, heh.

I wonder how good this game will be without Sakaguchi at the helm, since he's over at Mistwalker.
