Off to Japan Thursday morning. This time we're only spending a short time in Tokyo as we're travelling around the country and doing some snowboarding n stuff - however, this means my shopping time is limited to about two days!
Could anybody let me know the key shopping locations for arcade stuff (PCB's) in Akihabara, and the best possible arcades to find all the latest Cave shmups (Daifukkatsu, Death Smiles etc).
Any links, tips, maps etc would be amazing - I'm going to print them out to make myself a little guide as I need to move fast in Tokyo to get everything covered.

Thanks for the help guys!
Hey has the Cave library. Try Amusement Tower is an excellent arcade located a block or so away. They have two DS:MBL's in there, and are somewhat untouched. They have a nice retro floor as well, and a PCB shop on the top floor.
Mak Japan isn't too hard to find if you know where to look. Type this into maps.google.co.jp
東京都千代田区外神田3-14-6
That's Mak Japan. Further down Chuou Doori (the main street...away from Akihabara station) is G-Front. It's REALLY hard to miss if you can read katakana (or look for a big shop w/ a green sign that has a big G on it). It's on top of a Sigafredo last I checked.
Here's Try's address:
東京都千代田区外神田4−3−10
Hey is on Chuo Doori about a stone's throw from Club Sega. Very close to Akihabara station.
Where are you snowboarding?

If that Mario's Media Traders is still around in Akihabara, when I checked it out, they had some crazy cheap-ass deals like selling brand new shrink-wrapped PC Engine Super CD-Rom2 copies of Fatal Fury for a mere 48 yen. ^_~

I wish I could go more often, it's been five freakin years!
Then again, absence makes the heart grow fonder, if I was there all the time it might lose that special feeling.
Sven, I don't reckon I'll have time to get there unfortunately, we've worked out some crazy tight schedule, taking sleeper trains and going all over the place. Toyko's my best shot, and I'm leaving it until the last two days to cram some shopping in so I don't need to lug any heavy stuff around.

protip is that in akihabara they sell dirtcheap luggage bags (those thin plastic ones), i remember me and my mate bought one each for the trip back home and just axed em once we got home.
its better to have two bags rather than one thats super heavy for the flight home.

Near Fuji? Fuji is in Shizuoka and is pretty much the only mountian. Hm.... Have fun with it either way though. I went to Nagano around New Year. Good shit.

Actually the trip to Nakano isn't really worth it anymore Sven. They moved all the rare stuff to the new store in Akihabara (it's in a back street, check location before you go, it's a must visit).
The best deals are to be found at Mak, you can always make a special deal with those guys. Tell the chief Ken from Holland said hi, I spend so much money over the years he always gave me very good discounts
I brought DFK from Mak really cheap, though the guy didn't seem to know you could upgrade from 1.0 to 1.5 for free... The AMI HQ in Ikebukuro swapped it for me with no hassle, though.
That's Hakuba -- that's where I went, although I was at a different resort. Good shit.
Mandarake hasn't had a "good deal" in fucking years, so it was never really worth it to go. The Akihabara shop is hardly a back street... just not on the main street. You can see the damn building from just about any part of Akihabara. Note: the elevators are slow.

Them elevators at the Sacramento, CA State Capitol building are damn speedy. From the top floor going down, it's like a little amusement ride with the "negative G" forces that affect your sense of balance. ^_~

didnt know that, cool that mandarake has opened shop in akihabara but i think their previous location was better for the prices as they were noticeably lower than the average in superpotato/trader2/friends etc
MAK rocks and Ken is the man when it comes to haggling with the japs
hey check out the shmeet in Germany Ken, would be cool to meet up again

I'll keep that in mind on my next trip to Sacremento. Never been yet, got no reason to, but you just never know.
