In No More Heroes you have to beat a shmup called "Pure White Giant Glastonbury" to finish the game. Afterwords, it is unlocked and you can play it at any time.

If you finish a handful of missions for Caster in the new Fate/Unlimited Codes game for PS2 there's a mini game of a shmup for Caster. It's pretty fun!
