Games that should have get a sequel ?
Games that should have get a sequel ?
Thinking of the past 8-/ 16-bit-era I ( and also my long gone
youth ) I remember many games that deserved a sequel,
but never got one .
Many companies from that glorious past don´t exist anymore -
so everyone here knows that this thread is just .... a dream.
But maybe .... someone with talent may program one
of this games ( I already paid for DUX on the Dreamcast -
and I surely will buy some other shmups on Dreamcast
if somebody will do me the favour to program them-
but I also have no problem if the game may be for free ).
Aeroblaster : a hori-shmup that lacks the greatness of
the thunderforce-series, but it is a good and solid game.
And many of the shmups from today are only half as
interesting for me as Aeroblaster. You see, I am no
Cave-Believer.
Magical chase : I love games with a fantasy-setting,
controlling a little witch. This one is even better than the
cotton-games. I know it is a japanese game, but the
graphics sometimes remind me of the chzech cartoons
from my childhood ( I am from germany - I am not sure
how many people outside of europe have seen
chzech cartoons from behind the "Iron Curtain" /
Eiserner Vorhang ).
Elemental Master : Sega, if you create a sequel for this game -
please make it better than Thunderforce 6.
I know of Undead Line and Twinkle Tale, also both great games
of their own - no protest from me if we see Undead Line 2
or Twinkle Tale 2.
Bio Hazard Battle / Crying or Cyber Core : isn´t it great to
fight with thousands of insects and shoot your way to the
king / queen-bug.
Pulstar : perfect graphics with great music - someone give us
Pulstar 2 in the same quality and with no 3D. And for older guys
like myself make it a little easier.

Der kleine Maulwurf... This was aired in Norway and Sweden too. And then there was a similar cartoon about a grashopper. Some very nice use of colors throughout.jochen wrote:Magical chase : I love games with a fantasy-setting,

I'm dreaming of making something along these lines.jochen wrote:Elemental Master : Sega, if you create a sequel for this game -

Motherfuckin' Batrider. That should be Yagawa's next game.
Feedback will set you free.

I have fantasies of an updated Silver Surfer on a cosole - possibly the Dreamcast. But, this time he can crouch/duck, swoop? Maybe do some special evasive attack a la Strikers, where he "surfs" into the foreground and back to the playing plane again...And, of course the game would be nothing without an extensive OST by none other than the original; Dr. Tim Follin! I also dream of collaborating with him on such a project.
Also, Eliminate Down would do for a sequel. That ship and weapon system were ace - and keep the difficulty and speed select option in tact!
I also think it's high time for the return of Rayxanber, but with some more "far-out" spindley, messy sprites; pine-coney scenery and ships of Rayxanber 3...with a better/updated weapons system.
Lastly: would it not be the BEST to see the return of Bio Metal? So much can be done now with the Gamma Smash! The stateside soundtrack may have been pap, but the sound effects were incredible. And, this time maybe lift more of the "Giger" style backgrounds/ships - but, possibly leave the hopping "xenomorphs" out?

You're up for a Armed Police Batrider II PCB? And how will Cave be able to acquire the IP rights of Raizing/8ing's Batrider game in order to do a proper sequel? That right there, is another fine mess to jump into, regarding this particular arcade shmup IP. Assuming if a proper sequel can be done, I'm all for it as well. Of course, it would break tradition of Cave developing original arcade shmup title to concentrate on doing a sequel for an existing arcade shmup title done by another former developer. You know this ain't gonna happen in our lifetime, son. ^_~

Re: Games that should have get a sequel ?
The reason why the USA version of Aeroblaster is called so is because Air Buster appeared on the USA Sega Genesis console first. So to avoid name copyright infringement, NEC simply changed the name of Air Buster to Aeroblasters to avoid that legal tanglement issue back in 1990 for the USA region TurboGrafx-16 console. ^_~jochen wrote:Thinking of the past 8-/ 16-bit-era I ( and also my long gone

The USA version of Magical Chase was TTI's very last Hu-Card release for the TurboGrafx-16/Turbo Duo platforms (back in the summer of 1993) and goes for a very pretty penny if sold complete in pristine/mint condition with original TG-16 factory box, instruction manual & plastic insert tray. It is also the hardest to find of the USA Hu-Cards to complete/finish off one's TG-16 Hu-Card collection anyways. ^_~
