Raiden Fighters supports downloadable replays anyway doesn't it? Which would render any replay DVDs useless anyway.

Oh okay, didn't know that. Does that just apply to NTSC regions because, as i said, when I signed up in the UK two years ago I got zilch on Gold Account.

I only got a free sub when i sent mine back for red ring repair.

While there are some very skilled players on Live, none of them are at the level of the guys featured on the DVD.

Do you have the game? Have you personally compared them? What's the best score on the DVD and what's the best score on the Leaderboards (for each difficulty setting)?

Only crappy blogs like Kotaku are calling it a rumor. Amazon.com also broke the news, NEWS not a rumor, that Senko no Ronde was being published by Ubisoft. Amazon is a reliable source.

It's not known whether it is really coming out March 3rd since amazon usually puts up a random date so that they can start accepting preorders. We'll have to wait until ZOO announces the official release date to see for sure.

Raiden Fighters
Normal - 48,208,470
Arcade - 54,473,710
SuperPlay - 551m

Raiden Fighters 2
Normal - 106,881,950
Arcade - 104,015,160
SuperPlay - 1.14billion.

Raiden Fighter Jet
Normal - 156,479,718
Arcade - 149,577,732

Not even going to bother with jet
The leaderboards were reset and i do recall some 200m scores prior, but still nearly triple the score for RF.

Strange. I guess this game bombed badly in Japan? The Ikaruga leaderboard scores on XBLA correlate quite closely to the world records from the previous versions. Even then, I think the slightly lower scores on XBLA are down to the differences in chaining in some sections in this version.

I think it may have something to do with the leaderboards reset. The last time i played the game was in early summer. There may have well been some ridiculous scores, but this was before i realized by hitting left or right at the title screen changed the game selection (duh).

In any case at the moment there are only a couple of hundred people on the leaderboards. Maybe the reset turned a lot of japanese off.

Yeah, a leaderboard reset can be pretty devastating for these types of games. What did the patch do that meant that the leaderboards had to be reset? I'm sure the leaderboards will see a surge when the game is released in the West.

Are you sure about those numbers? For Normal Arcade play, the scores on the DVD included with the game are as follows:
RF1: 56,169,900 - DAB
RF2: 125,920,570 - GAP
RFJ: 200,410,760 - NER

The first update was supposed to remove sporadic freezing in the games as well as audio glitches (music playing incorrectly) and some other general bugs.

The second update added the scanline options as well as a stage 6 freeze in RFJ.

The third update fixed the stage 6 RFJ bug.

Shit. Good call Kiken. I recently ripped the RFA disc since mine is really scratched. Instead of doing VOB files i did a compressed avi, which was very blurry.

The scores i have are:

RF- 55,169,900
RF2 115,040,570

But, i guess yours are right as im not on the last 4 pieces of the dvd. Apologies

Not a big difference in the scores between the DVD and the replays then (except Jet), and even that is only due to the leaderboards being wiped if TodayIsForgotten is correct. How many times were the leaderboards reset? No wonder there's a difference between the leaderboards and the DVD if they were reset more than once.

These are the scores on the INH The Onslaught Raiden Fighters DVD/OST release.

Is the DVD that comes with the game the same DVD?

Once. After the first update.

And the only one I would view as close (given the general scores) is RF1. I got the game after the first update had hit, so I'm going by what I saw from the highscore postings.

Looks that way. The easiest thing for them to have done would be reprinting the existing DVD.

Had the leaderboards been cleared after that first update?

It's possible they were reset atleast twice. I did some "rough" translating of the success page. And every update seems to mention the leaderboard.

They were assuring people that the leaderboards would not be reset (on the second and third updates). And they weren't, all scores remained.

I pre-ordered a while ago. I'm still hoping that this disc contains all of the fixes/patches that were available up to this point in Japan. I'd rather have that stuff on hand if say- 10 yrs down the line- I decided to pull a good game out of the shelf.

No, it's not. After the INH DVD was released NER got a higher score in RFJ and they released an 'Omake' disc that had the new run and I think maybe an improved RF2 score? I can't remember exactly. I never figured out how to get that omake disk, and I'm not sure if they issued another printing of the INH dvd with that disk included/the dvd updated.

The RFA disk contains the omake runs.

Very true. They even have an out takes section that shows the original Onlaught DVD patterns next to the new patterns. That's why this is titled "The Onslaught Raiden Fighters Special Edition."

I've made multiple accounts on a PAL 360 and across 2 JP 360s and each console has stopped giving me a free month of Live Gold after 3 accounts.

One of the updates also reset your overall playing time, too.

I believe that it came as a pro-order bonus for pre-ordering something else from INH's site, though that might have been one of the other Raiden omake discs...

From a post here.
Rai82 wrote:For full details of what the patch does: http://www.success-corp.co.jp/software/ ... 080821.pdf

Here's what I can make out from those Japanese words:
- Movement controls are now more precise.
- Music and sounds are fixed and should be in their proper places.
- Patched loading/saving indications.
- Patched options in Pause menu.
- Added Score Attack mode for all 3 games.
- Added Full Run mode for RFJ.

There's a lot of other fixed/improved/added stuff in the patch, anyone can translate it all?

Tried the demo last night -- very smooth and lots of tweakability. Looking forward to early March.

I know it's a bit of a long shot- but hopefully you speak of the US demo?
