Ikaruga 300 second startup screen (naomi)

I get this screen when ikaruga boots up, anyone knows what it says/does? You can just press 1pstart to continue, but curious..

Looks like a contrast adjustment screen.

I imagined it was a flash rom check screen or whatever- a very thorough one!

It amazing, I know, but I had the game for a very long time before I didcovered that the start button would skip that screen. I used to wait the 300 seconds!
