What is the potential for abuse with these? Just curious.

Honestly I would say all 8 options are ok (although they should be specified if not default I guess). They could all possibly affect things, but I don't think any of them would be unfairly advantageous. If anything, -nowait could be an additional (more difficult) category for Kenta Cho score boards, but it doesn't make as much of a difference for p47 since it's fast anyway.

Let's make up possible abuse scenarios!

-brightness: You are a cockroach and hate light.
-luminous: You are a raver and lack the motivation to kill enemies unless they explode in a bright flash and hey let's go play Space Giraffe.
-lowres: You refuse to play games that aren't TRUE LOW RES and also you are GP.
-nosound: You are a troll who lives under a bridge and is physically hurt by music.
-window: You have a 400-inch monitor.
-fullscreen: You have a 4-inch monitor.
-reverse: .cixelsyd era uoY
-slowship: You can't handle the normal ship speed and also you are a turtle who hates pointblanking.
-nowait: You post in shmups chat about how your computer is really fast but hey why is there slowdown in DDP is that normal?

I really do not know. I think the only one that's really going to mean anything is -slowship, for obvious reasons. It's kind of fun to play in -lowres though.

WHOOPS!

Lock mode.

Sorry about that. I think I had a minor brain fart when I was typing in my score.

-window is nice, for this reason (maybe everybody knows this already?):

I'm not sure about -slowship. I've never used it, but I'd think it'd hurt at least as much as it helps. Just like in Dangun, you generally want the fastest ship possible to make it easier to collect all the point items.

But Normal/Hard/Extreme isn't built to use the Practice speed. They're built to get faster as you go along.

-window is great. It runs better on this comp than full screen mode, anyway.

-slowship doesn't slow the game down. What it does is: normally, you have a fast unfocused speed and a slower focused speed (that lets you lock or roll), but with -slowship, you always move at the slower speed, even when unfocused. Since this game is like Dangun and all about flying around everywhere and speedkilling everything, -slowship is actually a bit of a disadvantage.

But hey, it's all a moot point anyway until someone uses any of the mechanics-changing special options to begin with.

Duh, it says just that in the -slowship description. Unless I'm wrong, Davey and shiftace were the only ones who bothered to even care about how -slowship was a disadvantage in the old thread. I suppose that's why it's up there... (that and I heard complaints in the old thread about how Extreme was too fast for certain people)

Now if Parsec allowed you to pick a ship speed at the start or somesuch, that's alright. But that's not how it works.

Updated Aru-san's score, fixed some errors, added my program options (which I should have done to begin with). Windowed mode is gorgeous and how anyone can play without it is beyond me.

If you're wondering what kind of keyboard that is, it's this thing. Terrible arrow keys.

I just started playing this yesterday and have a couple questions.

Do you get more or less points when the point items turn yellow and rebound up to the top of the screen from the bottom?

and how do I change the options?

NORMAL - LOCK
LaserGun - 3,964,880 - 49 - Saturn USB pad

I'm pretty sure point values are identical for green and yellow. The color change is just to help you quickly identify at any time which items are about to leave the screen (ie prioritize yellow ones near the top). It's like Dangun Feveron, you don't want to let any of them go off the top of the screen (also you don't want to die), or your chain will reset, which will cause you to reset. :(

Those options are command-line switches. If you don't know what the command prompt is, well here is the easiest way to do this long-term anyway: Open any text editor such as notepad. Type in something like "p47.exe -window -brightness 50" or whatever you want. Hit save and browse to the p47 folder, and name it say, "p47.bat" (quotes included). Now you can click on this batch file to run p47 with the options.

1. afaik the bonus items turn yellow to remind you that they're going up the screen.

2a. "Hard" way: Use the command line.
2b. "Easy" way: Make a shortcut of the executable somewhere, go into the new shortcut's Properties, find the "Target" section of the Shortcut tab, type options at the very end. The options are in the parsec47 readme.txt; remember to type the hyphen at the start of each one, and use a space between each option (but not between the hyphen and the option). I think that explains it.

Haven't been here in a while. Although I haven't played any shooters in while either.

Hard - Roll
Pirate1019 - 7,429,290 - 41-50 - Sega USB Controller - [-nosound]
Pics or it didn't happen

I completely wasn't paying attention when I got the game over screen so I don't have a proof pic for the stages but it was in the 4th block, so between 41 and 50.

I never put much stock in Roll Extreme or Lock Extreme, but I'm beginning to lose my patience waiting for things to heat up in anything lower than Hard now.

Extreme - Lock
Pirate1019 - 5,318,160 - 38 - Saturn Style USB Controller- None

This game really encourages some weird dodging behaviors. On Extreme you move so fast that straight lateral dodges through bullet streams is not only entirely possible, but completely encouraged. A lot of time is spent pulling enemy fire around to create breaks to fly through too.
