Heh, did anyone catch on, or at least make some comment about the selection? Or did they just keep on going (and drinking)?

Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

I would bow, but I'm still trying to figure out how you have 50 cent and Square pusher in the same set.

The transition between Polyrhythm -> Garegga was simply amazing - thank you much, kind sir, for making my day :)
What more can I say I wouldn't be here today if the old school didn't pave the way.

@elixir - sure but stagger the postings per forums as it would kill my bandwidth!

@bulletmagnet - a fair few people noticed the tracks, there were a good few gamers there! a whole bunch were yelling 'row! row! fight da power!'

@udderdude - I wouldn't play espgaluda tracks because I hate that trance sound..

@ shelcoof - it was at gamers cafe, I don't normally spin stuff like that but I decided to have some fun..

@GP - but its a commodore 64 remix of fiddy!!

Aahh...forgiveable then. I was about to lump you w/ the "DJ's" (finger quotes) found in Honolulu and Las Vegas: the two most musically devoid cities in the free world.

Pardon the newbie question, but you mixed those tracks live? Was anything pre-recorded by you to make it easier (like isolated vocal or rhythm tracks or transition effects)? I'm trying to understand what constitutes DJing nowadays (aka I don't get out much anymore and last remember DJs mixing vinyl  ).

Anyway, love the mix you got there!

I must admit to being a little sceptical when I saw this thread and half expected it to be, well, a bit rubbish if I'm honest. Hell though, I needed to hear Namiki and Squarepusher used in the same live set and I must say I was blown away.

Fantastic choice of tracks and some seriously nifty DJ work in terms of beat matching, etc. This will be getting some serious public exposure at my shop and I know more plenty of folks that are really going to appreciate it. Excellent work!

Any more where that came from? I reckon there's room for the Garegga, Ketsui, DDP DOJ and DDP Dai-Fukkatsu TLB tracks in another mix.

this was done live on 2 pioneer CDJ decks and a laptop using a virtual DJ package..
you drop the bass on the EQ to get rid off a little of the low end of the track, and there's lots of EQ fading along with the volume fades.. none of the game stuff is on vynil as far as I know.. there's a few bits where I set the beats from other tracks to loop to keep the mix a bit more solid, but while thats looping i'm cueing up other tracks and wrestling the faders..

the owner of the place was scratching over the top, but I recorded it direct from my mixer outputs into my cowon D2 mp3 player / recorder, so I didn't get his outputs, probably a good thing...

@ rupert - I only play at that cafe every few months, and i might be moving to tokyo soon, so I dunno if i'll play there again, but there's plenty of other gamer spots I could try and play at.. normally I just spin electrotechno, so that was a one-off, for now at least..

Even if you didn't include any shmup tunes, you are awesome for the Metroid theme.

It's the same thing for the most part, but there is equipment that can mix CDs, or other digital formats. The high end CD turntables even have "vinyl" mode, which make it (as one would expect) feel like you're mixing vinyl. Arguing which is better is a LOT like bitching about games on media versus downloads. CD sound has apparently caught up, and its WAY easier on the artist to carry around CDs than 200 records.
